I'll update some pictures tomorrow! =)

I only birthed half of the hillbilly jars.  Upon opening them, I realized that the pins were growing from the dry verm layer which wasn't completely colonized.  I didn't want to risk infection of my fruiting chamber, so I did away with the dry verm layer (which caused me to lose a lot of the pins from the jar).

The few that stayed on, however, are growing pretty quickly!  I also have many new pins on one of the hillbilly cakes.

The other half are still in their jars.  I'm gonna let them consolidate, then knock off all of the pins before dunking and birthing.  I hope to compare the two sets to see which does better!

As promised, here are some pictures of the pins (note, this is only 3 days after dunking/rolling, so they've been in the chamber for 2 days):

I had to remove all of this guys' pins in the jar, as they were all coming from the dry verm layer.  He's sprouted new pins extremely fast!

This cake had the biggest pins in the jar.  I had to remove a few, but the two mushrooms you see are the ones I left on.  The other pins coming from the right are new.

This is the same cake as above from a different angle.  I know they need more FAE =(  I had to stay in town for 30 hours and was unable to fan them.. they are being fanned regularly now!

Here is another cake.  I left most of his pins on as they weren't quite in the dry verm layer.

And the last guy.  The mushrooms on the front right were left on from the jar, the ones on the back left are new!

The other 6 HB cakes are still in their jars consolidating.  I will be removing all of their pins from the jar before dunking.  All-in-all, I'm not a fan of how the pins that started in the jar turn out.  Their caps seem to be too small for their bodies.. but maybe it's just the strain?  My B+ cakes turned out with fat stems and huugee caps.

A few are almost ready for printing.

I will be keeping the first print for myself, of course, but then going down the thread in order as they were requested.  If you don't get a print from these 4 cakes (although all of you should), don't worry!  There are 6 more cakes consolidating!

I'm trying to get everything set up and my glove box back together (I had taken it apart in hopes to build a slightly bigger one, but never got around to it).

They seem to colonize very fast as you said, and they fruit very aggressively, with large fruits, very good quality.  Like I said one of my favorites.  They seem do do very well with HPOO.

Whats up RAW BTW??!!! and cynosure

with the powdery ass vermiculite that most growers use from their local home depot or lowes tends to compact way too much in tall half pints as well as pints.

at least in my experience ive never got a pint BRF cake to fruit. even fully colonized.

Shoot Bro, my pints always do better than my 1/2 pints! But what works for one person doesn't always work for others

Wowzers.. it's good to see how amazingly they can fruit with a more experienced grower!  That is some flush..

I'm doing well!  About to do some research for my fist monotub grow and waiting for my first caps to drop there spores for people in this thread.  How about yourself?!

Cool thread. I recently grew hillbilly and found them to be pretty aggressive too. I screwed up my bulk substrate by letting it sit too long after pasteurization (it STUNK), but I spawned anyway and it still turned out pretty well. It just kept on pinning, and I got over 6oz from 2 medium sized tubs. They had nice fat caps and they dropped a TON of spores, more than any other strain I've worked with.

Has anyone on here eaten them? What did you think? (Sorry if this was already mentioned in one of the previous pages.)

I might have some LC syringes of Hillbilly to throw out to you guys, as well.

I hit up these beginner honey tek LC's (my first attempt) with the spores right after my jars with the remaining spore solution.  I just sucked one of my LC jars up into 4 syringes.  I'll shoot up a test jar tomorrow and see if it works.  If it does, I'll offer them up for grabs, too!

At first I thought they weren't seeing growth, but I definitely could see it today!  I can also see what looks to be mycelium floating in the syringes.  Fingers crossed!
