I wonder if I have narcolepsy

Basically:

- Am ALWAYS tired to the point of feeling like I can fall asleep anytime even if I get 10+ hours of sleep.
- Have horrible insomnia, I have resorted to using OTC sleeping pills to get to sleep because I cannot otherwise even though I am dead tired
- Have sleep paralysis always upon falling asleep, constantly, as well as hallucinations when sleeping and waking up :frown:


Anyone else have similar symptoms?

Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to awake from that dream? How would you know the difference between that dream world and the real world?

I don't know about all of the problems you described, but I do have one tip that might be of use.  I work at a teen shelter.  Id say at least 50% of the kids who come to our program say they have "insomnia" and can never get to sleep until after 2AM.  Theyre usually pretty pissed we call lights out at 10.  However, in the last year, I've yet to see one kid stay up past midnight consistently. 

At least in their case, I think the issue isnt 'insomnia' but 'internet distraction'.  We turn out the lights, and there's nothing for them to do but listen to the radio or sleep after 10.  Its much too exciting to dick around on 4chan at 3 in the morning.  If you honestly want to get some sleep, dont let yourself surf the Shroomery while 'waiting to get tired'.  Just go to bed and turn out the lights.  Even if you sit there bored for an hour, eventually you will fall asleep, much sooner than popping some tylenol PM and playing internet poker till you cant keep your eyes open.

Maybe getting on a more 'normal' sleep schedule will help you out.  sleeping from 2AM till noon is a lot of sleep but it has you off-kilter with the rest of the planet.  Go to sleep at 10 and wake up at 6:30, see how you feel in a week.

Don't know if this applies to you at all - just something I've noticed a lot where I work.

Not really lol.
In fact I have to at least attempt to go to bed at like 10 or 11 since I have to be at work every day at 7AM.
