What is this light blue fuzz on BRF cakes?

These are your average BRF cakes, followed RR's videos to a T. They were placed into my SGFC on Thursday 3/30, and everything was normal.. until today, when I noticed some light blue fuzz growing on three of my 7 cakes.

The flash of my camera kind of washed out the blue, but it was like, cornflower blue.. almost sea foam green.
Anyone know what it is? I notice that on one of the cakes, the blue fuzz was thick and white yesterday, but can't say if that's true for the 2 other cakes with it on it.
Do you think I can just scrape it off and hope for the best? These cakes are on their first flush.

the one on the right looks more dangerous than the one on the left, but I'm not well-versed in differentiating between bruising mycelia and contams. It's my understanding that once you learn to recognize them, it's a no-brainer, but for us beginners, the differences seem sometimes subtle.
I'm sure someone with more experience will be along shortly. Sorry, not much help

Looks like a thick patch of mycelia that reminds me of trich. How fast is it growing and how fast is it turning blue?

If I were in OP's place I'd toss that cake asap. Alternatively I can bury it somewhere and water daily.

I scraped off the patch in the first picture before bed last night, and it was back this morning with a vengeance - so I'd say it's growing pretty fast. Starts out white though - takes about a day to turn blue it seems. Sigh! I guess the cakes are going outside.
Anyone know if it's a mold?

Sorry Teemo....that cake on the right definitely looks like a mold contamination to me.
Move it to a separated FC if you can....or bury it as was suggested.
Good luck,
JD

Burn it man, it will ruin your future operations if the spores go wild
Seriously its fubar go get rid of it ASAP!

Thanks for the advice! My only hesitation on tossing the cakes ASAP was that I'm going to be moving in 2 weeks to a new house, and by then those cakes would be done with their first flush and I would empty out/clean my SGFC, but I am worried about spores getting onto my furniture and stuff and surviving the move. I tossed the worst cakes and buried them in compost, so hopefully they'll keep fruiting out in the wild!

mold spores are everywhere we go. best thing to do is stop from knowingly adding more when you know you've got a contaminate and then super-clean the working/fruiting areas. if you are moving, just fruit/harvest what you can and start fresh after the move with a good cleaning after you get all the furniture in place.
good luck to you in the new abode!

I carry firewood into my place all winter long. It's generally covered with green and often other colors as well. No doubt all kinds of shit comes off that. The wood sits right by my wood stove so you have the updraft from the heat. Probably pulling shit up and all through my open 800 square foot apartment.
I've had one big outbreak of trich. I sterilized my casing layer instead of pasteurizing. Opened it up to contams. 3 of 12 showed signs of trich after casing and before fruiting so they were tossed. The other 9 didn't start until put into fruiting. I let them go and got a great combined first flush from them.
In the mean time I pulled almost all of the substrates out of the tubs some half covered in green some in an earlier stage. I tried burning, cutting, blasting with UV light. Nothing killed it but I got a nice first flush.
I then dumped the tubs, washed them out with soap and water. Wiped my grow room down with a bit of water and bleach(took 10 minutes). I've carried on practicing my sterile procedures and have had 0 problems with trich since.
Maybe I'm lucky? Would be the first time I don't know...I'm only commenting from my experience.
I only messed with the tubs because it wasn't just one and I knew the whole grow was doomed. Point is I see so many people saying ahhhh trich! Get rid of it before your fucked for life and can't grow in your house anymore. I just don't believe it.
I keep my place clean. Think that is all it takes.

this is good to hear McDude! And I agree with you. I think the mycelia can fend for themselves if we give them a good lead, nutrients, and love to support their "immune system."

Yes, it does seem that we do not have to win the game for our desired fungi which is impossible anyway. What we are doing is giving them the best advantage that we can.
I agree with McDude. I have had a few mold mistakes, but knew that my place was a tad grubby before I started cultivating. I am still relatively successful.
Good luck,
JD
