What about you? Find any mushrooms today? If not, maybe tomorrow...

Yep, that's how the mushroom game is played, one day at a time.

I didn't find any actives for my first two seasons of hunting. It sucked, but then again it was great. Why? Well here are some examples from my experience...
It got me to spend time outside looking at things I used to ignore.
I've learned a ton in that time, and am still learning about various species characteristics, variables, and so on and so forth. Some mushrooms I can now ID on sight.
There are plenty of edibles to be had once you know what to look for, when, and where to look for them.
I now have a folder full of cool pictures I have taken on my forays.
I have finally gained enough experience to actually eat a few of my finds. This season is the first I have enough confidence in my abilities to dare. (Mushrooms can be wonderful, but correct identification as you will see stated time and time again can be deadly serious.)
Stick with it and I hope you will find it is a great hobby, and there is a whole world of interesting/beautiful mushrooms to be uncovered, not just the psilocybin containing ones.

I came here originally to get an ID on a huge mushroom that came up in my yard. I explored the site a bit and thought... hmmm... it can't hurt to get out early every morning with a camera and a basket and get some fresh air. I haven't found anything of a psychoactive nature but I've found plenty of fungi otherwise and it's a very fun hobby. The thrill of locating a mushroom is like hunting easter eggs as a child. So far I'm very happy with my new hobby and discovered things growing on my land that I had no idea about before

I just took up an interest in this incredibly fun hobby as well and picked the worst months in my State to start hunting haha. I can definitely say that there is no other thrill like hunting for hours and finally stumbling upon a little cluster of mushrooms hiding under some shrubberies.
It gets me more excited knowing that im hunting during a really dry summer, and that any experience I get now can be applied to the more fruitful times of the year!
Remember that every time you go out, its another hunt under your belt. That experience is invalubale and can't be learned from simply reading a book or sitting on your ass.
