can someone explain the relationship water has to fully covered caked as i here people talking about dunking but then people also say try not to get water directley on the cakes? is it that it's the actuall shrooms that should'nt be weted? as i have a cake which gave me a couple of shroooms now it seems like it's dryed out abit so if i wanted to get it going again would i wet the actuall cake or the stuff it's sitting in?
and can someone quickly explain pins to me plze espcially when the appear before the cake has left it's tub/jar thanks.

The cake can get plenty wet, you just have to let it breathe and dry out again. Think of morning dew, then the sun comes out and dries it up. Thats what mushrooms like.
Pins will form if the substrate colonizes as much as it wants to, sometimes fresh air and light help to make pins form. Theyll form anyway, in the jar or out.

That's bad advice, how are you supposed to dunk or mist following this advice? You can get water on everything. Some people reported harsh direct misting to cause bruising and retard or halt growth, but others have claimed otherwise and attributed the claims to other factors like low humidity.
