Dubstep Debate
    #14277029 - 04/12/11 09:15 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

We all love dubstep.. well sadly not all, but is this new dubstep (often called brostep) with all the WUBWUBWUBWOBBLEWOBBLE wobble bass and high pitched melody really dubstep? or has dubstep created something entirely new? i hope its the latter because i like them both but i would be disappointed greatly if the original dubstep sound was stopped being made. if we just take all the new wobble bass Dubstep and permenatly name it a different genre (like brostep!) then hopefully that new genre will continue and so will the old classic dubstep genre also.
Make sense?

i don't like any of that music anymore. i used to mix dnb, dark, hardstep and jungle if you want to put that in there. now i can hardly listen to any of it.
i now like faggy 80's electro.

the only thing close to dubstep that i like is bassnectar. i havent heard anything else that sounded like it was that good. ana sia and kraddy are badass, i saw them both live but never really listened to them other than that.

Gawd, I'm so out of touch with popular culture. WTF is Dubstep?

Maybe it's time for me to get a TV again?

look up the song archangel by burial on youtube and scary monsters and nice sprites by skrillex. archangel is the more original sounding dubstep and Scary monsters is the newer.

What exactly are we supposed to discuss and how does this relate to the forum?

Dubstep was around long before dubstep. Lot of idm makers have done it before. Lot of techno makers have really done it before, easiest example is Mr Oizo and Timo Maas (Dooms night Timo Maas Remix very famous).

I think it is just another form of bass craziness. But try to be in club for few hours where is only slow wobbly dubstep and you grow tired. It is a proven fact, that certain low frequencies affect your body and mood. I remember my sound teacher tell me how he created some low ambient sounds and after listening to them felt extremely depressed.

hahahaha awesome. i think you need a good mix of both styles to enjoy them both. hard dubstep and soft dubstep.

naw, hes good.. i just hate the overwhelming feeling dub step produces... most of my other friends like it (they are also mostly rave kids, me not so much)

the bass gets into my head and eventually makes me angry.. i can COPE with heavy bass music of that type for about 10 minutes before i start getting unhappy

thats really interesting as its always had the opposite effect on me.. but ALL music has a calming effect on me. even the most heavy deathcore thrashing brutality calms me down whenever im angry..

this band has saved my life tripping before..... they calm me down and put me in place... release my rage etc.... so much emotion to me in this music....

dubstep just makes me feel really anxious and uncomfortable..... metal makes me happy, sober or tripping
