Most of the people posting in this thread are hipsters. How do I know? Because the thing that hipsters hate the most is other hipsters. Furthermore, real hipsters will never identify themselves as hipsters. For that reason I'm proud to say that I'm a hipster. Do I listen to The New Pornographers and M. Ward? Yes I do. Do I wear a keffiyah sometimes? Of course, because the Palestinian people are repressed as shit. Do I have a skeezy mustache? Yeah... kinda ashamed of that one but it's given me luck in baseball so it stays. Do I own flannel? Hell yeah! Have you worn flannel? It's comfy as a motherfucker. Do I wear glasses? No, my eyes are fucking amazing. Do I drink craft beers? Duh... mainstream cheap beer is lousy. If Budweiser made an IPA, it would probably taste bad. Most importantly, do I let people determine for me what is cool? Fuck no, I like what I like and if that makes me a hipster then pass me a PBR and play that one band that you've never heard of.

you seem to be pretty uptight about the whole hipster critique. if you can't stand the heat get out of the flannel.

its just lame to be on the anti-hipster side.  that puts you squarely in the hater camp.  And i stand by my statement that you're really just acting out emotions about some repressed part of yourself that hipsters represent.  I'm not into psychology, i'm into self inquiry, and thats what i've learned.

Fuck off with this internet psychology BS, You dont know jackshit about his reasoning for hating Hipsters. There nothing but Fashion obsessed fags with romanticized ideals and morals about how there gonna create change in the world, There the new age emos of the world.

 i offer an opinion and it's automatically BS cause it has to do with psychology.  Get learned man, maybe then you'll stop using bigoted language.

This was me at a Halloween party a few years ago.  The only other person at the party who was a dick enough not to wear a costume was this smarmy hipster kid...  When we were introduced, I pointed out that he had come in the same costume, but that his looked less authentic.

I do really enjoy PBR, though almost any obscure shitty beer is alright with some oj.  :feelsgoodman:

So that's the problem :squirrelnut:

I drive my friends crazy because I tend to do the same with conversations. :nonono:

i've been "the debater" before. i've noticed i've mellowed a lot more with the whole debating thing as the years slide by. last month i drove up to iowa and spent a week with some old friends. one of them debated everything and anything. shit got so fuckin' annoying.

fortunately there was herb and i was able to laugh at most of her b.s. some folks need to chill.

Yeah, I know I get annoying when I get carried away. Way too many I's in that sentence. Don't care enough to reformat. I've been working on trying to get better at "small talk". Conversation to me for the longest time was trying to share whatever I learned with everyone. I found out most people participate in "small talk". I'm still learning this social thing.  I have also noticed my new birth control makes me 50x more hostile and intolerant which makes doesn't help my tendency to argue. Glad its all gone now (bc). ramble ramble ramble

Back to hating on hipsters.

nah, the party was immature because of their immaturity, not what they were wearing.

Thats not dick. I mean, most people I've talked to mushies about look at me like I'm nuts when I start talking about APE, Uncut, PF Albino and other mutants. I have only a handful of friends that know what PE is through their own means of info hunting.

It very well could of been said in a snobby way, but its just as likely that is was misinterpreted. Variables make the world go around.

"you've probably never even heard of it before!" is one of the staples by which hipsters make assumptions.

theyre so hip that they know about things nobody else knows about.

thats where the hilarity from the PE story comes from.

I was surprised that he even knew about it. But still, what a hipster thing to say. I got that in a few conversations I had... one of the guys was rambling about his supreme knowledge of art, and he asked me if I knew about a certain artist... I said no and got the "WHAT? You've never heard of ----? Hey, this guy doesn't know who ------- is!"

I'm not familiar with the identifying qualities of a hipster.

I can spot people who visually resemble hipsters based on stereotype style of dress. I usually see them at Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie....but then I shop at those places too so I'm a hipster?

animal, lol. I have had people do that before, they're called assholes. They disguise themselves in all kinds of clothing and cliques.
