Very cool Symon! I have been doing everything I can to stay on top of the Morel season this year. Last year I had zero luck. I have already put in a good 50 hours of Morel hunting.. scoping terrain and what not.  :stirthepot:

So are those Verpas any type of indicator species? Like, are there chances that Morels will be growing in the same vicinity? And you eat those Verpas, eh Synmon? Well dang maybe I'll have to give em a shot... :crazy2:

I have yet to find morels in exactly the same habitat but i know of people in my mushroom club who have found morels in similiar habitat.

the spot we found them today is a bit different from the sandy, cottonwood infested groves around  big rivers we nailed them in last year, actually that spot i found those oysters a few days ago.

these were actually just in a park that is mixxed maple, alders , hazel wood and cedars just growing outa the leaf litter. i will be going back to my cottonwood groves this weekend tho, they should be popping in good numbers there too.

and ya they are good eats. always try a bit your first time to see what kind of reaction you get. i fed them to like 5 other people plus my son and no one had any ill effects. and last year they were giving them out at a club meeting to everyone and i dont recall hearing about any issuses.
