I say just try it out for awhile and see how it goes  It seems like a sweet house and location for a good price...that's hard to come by these days. Just don't bring you're entire drug collection with you at first, and see how it is living with the guy. If he seems to keep on track with his meds and doesn't seem to have "episodes" then it's probably alright. Whether you have drugs there or not if he freaks out all the time with crazy delusional anger outbreaks then he wont be nice to live with and then you can sort something else out for yourself...

I'd say just give it a go

I say go for it. A great house in a good neighborhood and a POOL!
You say the guy has been a good friend of yours and your brothers as well, so at least you can handle the guy.
When it comes to the drugs, create the craziest place you possibly can and hide your stuff there. If the cops do come to your place because of him and there are pipes and bongs in the open, I believe that the cops would be more concerned with him rather than that. And if they do come, get rid of your stash before they come back.
In the end, It comes down to weather or not you really want to do it.

I'll probably do it sometime within the next few months.

He's been a family friend for probably a good 5 years now, so I'd like to think I have a somewhat decent understanding of the severity of his mental case.

I'm definitely going to hide my drugs in a ridiculously hard to find location.

Are there standard legal documents to obtain from somewhere to allow me to sign as a lease holder? I don't want to move my stuff into his house without signing some legal documentation giving me full right to live there. That's not because of him though, that's just because I'm paranoid.

If I was arrogant, I'd call it "responsibility"

But seriously, he's a pretty normal guy. It's just if you're around him long enough that you'll probably see him get a little crazy for an instant. He usually realizes that he's being crazy and takes his medication, or at least listens when people tell him that he needs to.

i got a friend who is schizo, and he is fucking nuts. used to be a good bro but sometime after high school he became nuts, so much so that i was seriously wondering if he was gonna try and kill me.

if you don't get a creepy serial killer vibe from him i'd say it's safe. or learn to sleep with one eye open.

He's taken them before and enjoys them thoroughly.

But no, I wont be giving him any hallucinogens.

so you want to move in with him to take advantage of him or something..? why don't you try to help him become more stable?

maybe if he stops believing he is "bi-polar" and therefore stops giving himself an excuse to engage in his mood swings he could possibly grow up?

I don't think you read the entirety of my posts, and I also think your opinion on mental illness' is derived mostly from text rather than first hand experience.

This guy needs to take medication to be functional.

Maybe it would be possible for him to become stable and "zen" if he lived in the mountains as a monk, but he lives in the city, and society was not built for his psyche. It doesn't work for him unless he's medicated.

you say he thoroughly enjoys shrooms yet you've already decided  you won't give him hallucinogens no matter what. how does this make sense? surely you know of psilocybins medical potential

also don't know where that opinion would've originated from, my thoughts on mental illness are from personal experience

i don't think you should live with him

I never said "no matter what". I just said I wasn't going to give him hallucinogens.

Psilocybin has potential to trigger severe psychotic breaks among those who suffer from acute mental illness'. I'm not going to give him any hallucinogens because there is just as much possibility the experience could leave him as a severely confused, agressive, manic, 350lb man; as it could be medicinal.
Judging the possibilities, the consequences outweigh the positives.

I'm not sure if you're trolling me or some shit, but you have never been around someone with an acute mental disorder if you think that he is merely "believing" that he is bi-polar.

You are buying into just as much a load of bullshit if you think mental illness is one in itself.

you just said he thoroughly enjoys mushrooms but you're worried about him having a psychotic break? umm... doesn't really add up man. you've got alterior motives for living with him and that's why i don't think you should

but hey, do whatever you want

Well it looks like I'm not gonna be moving in with him. I think he's way more manic than I imagined. I talked to my brother who knows him way better, and he suggested I avoid him till he comes out of the episode, which could last a while until treated.

Shit, what a way to live  :undecided:
