you seem to be pretty uptight about the whole hipster critique. if you can't stand the heat get out of the flannel.
its just lame to be on the anti-hipster side. that puts you squarely in the hater camp. And i stand by my statement that you're really just acting out emotions about some repressed part of yourself that hipsters represent. I'm not into psychology, i'm into self inquiry, and thats what i've learned.

It has nothing to do with hipsters. I don't really pay attention to kind of thing.
I just like debating and dismantling statements. That is all.
Not everything has to have scientific data behind it for it to have a bit of truth in it. This coming from someone who is known to say "Show me your sources". This is in regards to the people I quoted, because I agreed with the general message of their statement.
Oh and remember guys, the internet is supr srs.

See, that "holier than thou" attitude is the cornerstone of hipsterdom. Which is why this thread was started in the first place, I think.
I wear flannel, I think PBR is okay for crappy beer, my jeans aren't exactly loose fitting, I listen to plenty of indie rock, I like things that are generally out of touch with the mainstream, etc.
People who simply dress like hipsters aren't a problem, it's the whole mentality that gets to me.
It's the people who so closely mimic the hipster stereotype for social status that bother me. It's like you can clearly tell that they just want to be in the club and are putting on this painfully stereotypical front. Just trying way too hard.
It's a lot like stereotypical hippies. If you had told me 10 years ago that there are people who sit around talking about how crunchy and heady everything is and taking as many drugs as they can to act the part of a hippie, I would have laughed and said no way. But, those people definitely exist.
These kind of people lack any real depth, and seem to simply follow the subculture stereotypes on how to act.

I don't only seek out the dumb, its hard to ignore the dumbasses and closed mindedness on here. Sometimes I see something so that I can't help but say something.
I didn't comment on the interactions because I saw nothing weird or "hipster" about them. They sound like typical young adults who are passionate about their super "artsy" projects and may possibly think they're the shit. Show me how that kind of attitude is different than the ones portrayed by many posters here. Same shit, different subjects.
Sheesh, quit being so butthurt. I don't see that much hate in this thread, just people laughing at other people. cherokee's right, you hipsters have this knee-jerk reaction about anyone pointing out your hipster-isms. I don't hate hipsters! I have plenty of hipster friends, but none that fit the stereotype as perfectly as all the people at this party. I AM NOT ANTI-HIPSTER. They are responsible for some of my favorite music and art.. They sell me bike parts.

/didnt read
holy shit people read way too far into the "hipster" thing
hippies are so much fucking worse anyway
the difference is, in 30 years you wont see hipsters wandering the streets trying to collect spare change for PBR or crank
the worst thing about hipsters tho i have to agree is the shitty beer. i dont see whats so cool about irony beer when it tastes like shit.
on the other hand hippies have the bombest drugs...

let's not get started on the whole hippie vs. hipster thing. there's really nothing to compare.
--------------------
"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

Do you have to be skinny to be a hipster? They all look like they survive on top ramen and bruise easily.
