Morels in backyard?

Hi all, I'm new here. Just discovered what I think are morels growing in my backyard here in GA. Cut them & they are hollow, which I believe true morels are supposed to be. Just wanted to verify what they are before we use in a recipe! Here are pics of a couple:

I'm soaking in saltwater, per some recommendations. How long can I soak before they start getting soggy? (assuming they are morels & OK)
Thanks! Buck

Out of curiosity... why soak them at all? I've never soaked a morel. I may use a little water to help get any dirt off of them, but that's it.
Happy mushrooming!

Thanks everyone!
Several sites with morel recipes suggested soaking in the saltwater for a couple of different reasons (lowering acidity; I forget the other reasons). Some said for as long as overnight! I soaked for an hour, but even then they were getting soggy, so I think next time (assuming they return next year!) I'll just give a good wash... Now I'm looking forward to tasting them!
These finds also got me looking in the woods out back of our place, but no further luck yet...
nonlocal - lol at your backyard comments! I know someday I won't be able to, but I've always said I wouldn't live in a place that didn't have a yard I could pee in unseen!

If they have a lot of larva/bugs in them you can soak them in salt water/vinegar to get rid of them. Its helpful to do before you dry morels.

That's right, getting rid of little critters was another of the reasons I read for that soak...

I dont use salt water but just plane water then i trow the water in my yard. who knows i might get lucky and spread a few spores. I soak them to help get dirt that might be in them as well as bugs.

The worst thing I noticed about using the salt water was that they shrunk!
