Drying cakes after first flush (RRs advice)

I was reading through random posts and I remember RogerRabbit saying something about drying your cakes out between flushes by leaving them out of the fruiting chamber (after the first flush is complete). I think I remember him saying that it was best to do this because it allows the substrate to rest between flushes. Since the cakes will not produce mushrooms between the first and second flush, I got the impression that it was okay to leave them out.
I just want to make sure that this is ok! Because I don't want to mess up all 15 of my cakes because of a post that I barely remember!
Suggestions?

just dont mist for a day, then dunk, then re-introduce into fruiting conditions. Thats what I do

After i harvest i imediatly dunk the cake for around 20 hours then place back into fruiting... I never purposely let em dry out...

I never heard of leaving them out to dry. I wouldn't recommend that... You will get contams... and dryness... Neither are good for fungus.

I divided my cakes up, some I let dry and others I left in the fruiting chamber (after dunk/roll). The cake that I left in the fruiting chamber hasnt fruited yet. How long until it fruits again? I've seen one small mushroom, but thats it and since then theres been no activity. I'm worried! I'm about to reintroduce the dry cakes into the fruiting chamber (after dunk/roll). Hopefully they'll be okay.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by dry...
It can take a week or more sometimes for consecutive flushes.

I know this thread is over 3 years old, sorry for lack of protocol.
To the relevant part, I too have read that letting the cakes dry out for 2 days after the flush to let it let it dry before re-dunking for 24 hours. Any more recent thoughts on this concept?

Your shamanic power is great to be able to revive a thread that's been dead so long
Anyway, in my experience letting the cakes get dry and thirsty before dunking is great. If I remember correctly the reason is moisture evaporating out of the now plump mycelium is a huge pinning trigger.
