does anyone think tampa can catch boston? I think they have 7 games left against each other, and tampa is only back 6.5 games in the wildcard. It will be interesting to see.

no way. boston is going to get into that "playoff" mode, where all the experienced MLB players hold it down. Boston is so good this year...it's ridiculous.
I'm still pullin for the Yanks in the AL East, only because I absolutely despise the red sox.
I'm hoping by some miracle my Mariners can catch Oakland, and at least finish 3rd...

Did you see him last year when he shaved it? He looked 50 years younger.

tampa is going no-where again this year.
the team is a serious waste of talent.
MLB should disband the franchise based off low fan base.

Pretty sure Hotlanta gets the wild card this year. Hopefully 2012 will be a strong year for the Rockies. If not... well I love rooting for them anyway.

Yes, the Braves have the wild card. The wild card races have been over for a while now. I don't like the Braves chances in the the playoffs considering all the rookies in the rotation and how the Phillies just completely and utterly manhandled them. Beachy and Hudson should be fine. Beyond that I can't see them winning. And if they only just match up in the first two games then that's it. I've said the playoffs are a crapshoot and they are. The Phillies pitching and the Red Sox offense are just too good to realistically compete with in a short series. So they're my picks. Phillies have better rotation depth so I'm picking them for the series. I could see Worley imploding so hopefully that is what happens.

The Yankees have scored more runs, play in a tougher park for hitters and have a much higher run differential then either the Red Sox or the Phillies.

2 mores runs. I didn't realise the Yankees run differential was better, but you're right. I'm willing to call them equally talented teams. The top of the Red Sox's rotation is quite a bit stronger so I'd still take them in a 5 game series. Maybe closer than I'd realised though.

Well you get at most 3 starts from the top of your rotation unless you go with only 3 pitchers. And bullpens count

There's still Halladay, Hamels, Lee AND Oswalt....so an imploding rookie really doesn't help out in any which way.
Yankees get eliminated in the NLDS by Texas, just so Zappa and his Sabermetrics bullshit will stop rearing it's dirty head trying to make the Yankees seem like the greatest thing in baseball.
And yes we know about the rings, but not this year (hopefully).

Run differential isn't Sabermetrics. It is in fact a robust neanderthal stat.

I'm gonna be going to the rookie game this Thursday...no preseason games though. I have tickets to the Winter Classic, and will probably go to a few more games during the season.
JagrBombs is gonna shut up all his critics about how he is too old and won't produce. I say 70-90 points with the line he's on. I liked all the offseason moves, except Bryz's contract. I think the Flyer's are going to be really good, a lot better than people are giving them credit for.

yeah i'm excited for Jagr, but i think Holmgren is a fucking dumbass. Trading two of some of their highest scorers. Awful move, and bryzgalov. At least we got Couturier and Schenn. We'll see. How much were your tickets to the Winter Classic? I want to go but I don't wanna slap down $500

Why do I get the impression that Jagr fans are too stupid to read thread titles? Why does that impression not surprise me?
