No, I dont think so.
Temperature is roughly a measure of energy density. The amount of energy in the universe is observed to be fixed at a constant level. The size of the universe is observed to be increasing. Thus, the temperature of the universe is falling, and will for as long as the universe is expanding.

It could, but so far it has gotten colder and is expected to continue getting colder.

This is true of the universe as a whole, but could there not be pockets that are hotter than average and pockets that are cooler than average?

Well the sun is getting warmer. One of the last episodes of "the universe" they mention that it is believed the sun is responsible for about 20% of the warming happening right now.
Our sun will keep increasing in heat for millions of years.
I think the universe is cooling since it is actually expanding and galaxies are getting farther away from each other. Well except for the clusters that are going to collide forming a bigger galaxy.

In fact, ALL planets of the solar system are warming.
My guess is a distinct change in solar flux.

As our sun ages it is getting warmer as it makes it's way to a red giant where it might just eat Earth.
Just the life cycle of a star.

I believe the sun is responsible for nigh on 100% of the warming going on at this moment.

Won't argue that, just typing what one source said that actually backs up the warming of the sun.

Yeah, it's just that this sort of discussion always lacks the nuance that makes the real difference. It's always about shit heating up or cooling down, without any attention for the middle ground Seuss referred to.
