Green mold?
    #14271254 - 04/11/11 09:12 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Well, it looks like my block has some green and white mold in it. Is it best to throw it away, or is there any methods one can use to save it? Hydrogen peroxide? Bleach?

I guess my carbon dioxide level in the room became too much or my block was too wet.

I have tried to save contaminated substrates in the past, but have
found that it always has a tendency to come back. Now a days whenever
I spot any green it instantly goes outside into the garden.

I then wash down the FC in a 10% bleach solution along with any items
or surfaces that may have come in contact with the mold.

It is easier to start a new project then try to save a failed one and
have mold spores released all over your grow area.

Also note that when you place a contaminated substrate outside sometimes
they will go on to produce a nice harvest.

This has been my experience.  Indoor environments seem to provide competitors an advantage whereas outdoors it seems (to me) that the gourmet and psychedelic fungi tend to out-pace them.

trying to work with contaminated substrate is just not worth the effort, each time it will come back or infect other substrate generally just be a pain in the butt!
