i've accidentally ended up at a few hipster parties over the years. it was mostly the "vibe" of the parties that turned me off. just felt like a bunch of insecure high school kids carrying over that insecurity into their twenties.

i think some of my friends are turning into hipsters...
one group started getting into alternate electronic music, then started wearing tight jeans and ironic T shirts (that are so ironic they dont even have jokes on them... THAT is how ironic they are!!!), and they have become really trendy and highly critical... and wear those glasses and...
AND another group started off as a beer drinking, pub going, flannel wearing, AUSSIE types... who have now incorporated the glasses into their repertoire and occasionally wear hats... and
AND! BOTH THESE GROUPS HAVE STARTED RIDING SKATEBOARDS... 'IRONICALLY'!!!!

WHAT SHOULD I DO????!!!!

go off-road, they'll never catch you (plus, hipsters won't give chase, it might make them look like they actually give a damn about something).

Grow the fuck u and stop contributing to broad generalizations.
I joke about hipsters but a fucking 7 page thread bashing people who look like "hipsters".
Hey guess what asshole? I wear flannel, I have since I was a young teen, its comfortable. Sometimes, especially while intoxicated, I have been known to rock shades. Does this make me a hipster? No.
What is it with all this 'holier than thou' attitude towards kids who just sound like they shop at Urban Outfitters and may slightly conform to the subculture thats most present where they are receiving an education.

I accept that. Generalizations are sometimes necessary.
In this case, its just stupidly labeling a large group of people OP can't relate to or feel comfortable with. Thats when I have problems.
If a very broad and complex subject were being discussed and things had to be generalized for the sake of simplification, then I wouldn't say anything because often at those times its obvious.

dumb concept if ya ask me.
Hipsters are high-chool clique stupid. All you have to do is look at them, then emos, then goths, then "bros" etc.
BTW, the cliche popped-collar party is usually way, way more varied than their bullshit because those people aren't lQuote:

No, child. I don't let silly clique associations with certain items of clothing get in the way of how I choose to express myself with the textiles society requires us to wear.

Did you miss the part of the OP regarding verbal conversations with the people?
You're on and on about clothes but have said nothing, maybe not even considered, the content his interactions bred.
You like to come on here and talk about how dumb other people are and how you dislike the site now but you're also seeking out the dumb so you canm put them down. You're one to talk about 'holier than thou' attitudes.
Most self-identified hipsters (even those that don't self identify as such) seem to have a similar "you're a bully, I'm perfect" disposition.

what was funny to me was that all these hipsters conformed to the same multitude of stereotypes
am I so wrong to laugh at people that look like this?

I've been called a hipster plenty of times and it doesn't bother me because I'm different
