It's not really viable to have a poison mushroom sticky in the same vein as the psilocybe hunting one as there is the likelyhood that if someone finds a poisoness mushroom not on the list they may assume that it's not poisonous.
It would be a lot more difficult if not impossible to list every poisoness or potentially poisonous mushroom for an are than it is for active ones.
Perhaps a common lookalikes thread might work, but even that has the same risks really.

Edit: Spelling Having one of those days.

I agree with stopwhispering. As a newcomer to shrooms a Lookalike thread would be pretty helpful. I dont have an eye for these things yet and I feel like im playing "which one of these things is not like the other" and losing.

Yeah I guess, But I didn't mean put it in the psiloybe thread. I meant maybe make it a sticky in the mushroom hunting forum. So they can be more aware of the consequences of ingesting or mistaking poisonouse fungi. BUT there are heaps and heaps of poisonous mushrooms out there it would be A huge task describing them and giving them profiles. But it could be done,

"In the same vein" means along the same lines of, not in the same thread as.
It's not a case of how big a task it would be, it's a case of the unkown that's involved.

Oh lordy.
This kid got lucky. Are you able to give the amounts he ate and other info? What specific effects he suffered? Did you ask about/ get given milk thistle? (to rest the debate)
Also congrats on the hot topic. lol. A very unfortunate welcoming to the shroomery.

It doesn't have to be a "poisonous mushroom sticky" you could just sticky it as an example of the consequences that result from eating unidentified mushrooms.

I think the look alikes for fatal mushrooms does need to be stickied. There needs to be a disclaimer to that identifiers and any other member cannot be held liable when identifying. People need to use common sense, especially in the pursuit of something that can kill you.
Remeber children: use COMMON SENSE and the professors at the colleges or local mycology association.

Wow that is good news. I am somewhat disappointed by the process that the hospital seemed to go through - why did it take so long?
I would have thought a doctor would be assigned to you, and I'd assume the Poison Control people would have access to an on call-Mycologist. The doctor would have access to a microscope, and presumably be able to measure/look at the spores, even if he didn't know what he was looking at.
What would they have done if he didn't have the samples with him?
At this point in time I'd be more secure with an ID on the Shroomery.

Thankyou! This is the first thread I've seen where the original poster replied about what happened, glad it did work out.

I vote this for a sticky too. It was an amazing read. I mean it's almost 4am and the only reason I am up right now is because I read every single post on 12 pages. It really opens your eyes to why you shouldn't just pick and eat. I honestly have never went hunting before, but if I did go any time in the future I am sure this story would come into my head. Please sticky this. I really hope the kid is OK and post back after the 19th friend. I'll pray for him.... oh wait no.... I don't believe in god... but yeah someone will...

Jesus.
I've rummaged the site in the past, but decided to join shroomry.org today (for inspiration and help with identification).
Shit luck for this to have happened, but also amazingly inspiring that mushroom identification books and a network of people are of value - more than value, serve purpose communally (besides all of the delectable finds and trips we enjoy for ourselves Reminds me of Paul Stamets initial intention/inspiration, for real...
Also, coincidentally noticed I will be missing an appearance tomorrow @ Evergreen State College.
Anyways, I'm in awe :P

Yesterday I fried up and ate some of my first homegrown Shitake harvest. Afterwords, I get all paranoid thinking about this thread. A whole bunch of what ifs came to mind....
