My first time using Salvia
    #14269389 - 04/10/11 09:27 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Before I begin this trip report let me give you guys some background information, I am a male in my late teens and have done various drugs. I smoke marijuana (sometimes daily, depends how I'm feeling), I have done LSD about 3 times, 1-1.5 tabs each time. I have also done psilocybin mushrooms twice, the first time around an eighth and the second time about 10gs, the second time being my most powerful psychedelic experience of all time. I am not spiritual, but I believe chemical reactions in our brain can make us have spiritual experiences, not that they are real, just we perceive them as real (This is my opinion, and I am not trying to be a douche to the people who are spiritual).

Ok so here we go, my friend had picked up some 30x salvia extract from a headshop in my city of Calgary (locations are allowed?), I had never tried it before and was curious if it could really be as powerful as everyone has claimed (the media, youtube videos, you guys), so I decided to try it. We would be going to a forest near my house and doing it there, as I still live with my parents. My friend brought his little water bong and I brought my torch lighter, we had to stop at a nearby 7-11 to get a waterbottle as we forgot to bring water. We trekked through the deep snow to get to the perfect spot, then I sat down and grabbed the bong.

My friend brought out his bag of 30x salvia, and put a bowls worth into the bowl. I took the torch lighter and lit the salvia while inhaling. I took one hit and held it for about 10 seconds before I coughed, then I took another massive hit and held it for about 30 seconds. I blew it out and told my friend I didn't feel much, so I hit it again, this time, the salvia fell through the hole in the slide and I held my breath for another 30 seconds. I told my friend I still wasn't feeling much, although I did feel a bit different.

So he loaded up another bowl. I took another 3 massive hits, on my last hit, I held it, then I started feeling really disorientated. I look at the two trees behind me and suddenly they turned into elves, and both of them were working on some sort of assembly line, I have no idea what they were making though. They looked at me funny and I looked back wondering what this was. After about a minute (in real time) of examining them, I looked back and realized that I was in the forest with my friend, I looked at him and said, "what the fuck" about 10 times and also "what the fuck was that?". I was asking about the elves, but he of course had no idea what I was talking about.

I looked around and it felt like I was in a massive forest, feeling very uneasy and scary. I heard voices, like yelling, and I thought people were watching me freak out like this. I kept looking around trying to comprehend where I was for about 5 minutes, then we decided to get up and leave. By this point I was still tripping pretty hard, but I knew where I was. I was walking and felt very scared and like I was in a place that was not secure. I looked at my phone and a private number had called me, and I started to get scared because I was wondering if those voices were people and they had phoned me to tell me they knew what I was doing. This worried me very much and gave me quite a scare for about 5 minutes. My face also felt very flushed when I was worried, but the cool Canadian air and breeze made me feel better.

As we were leaving the forest I was coming down but still feeling very uneasy, and my friend told that the voices I had heard weren't voices but a dog barking, this calmed me down slightly. I told him I never wanted to do salvia again, because of how uneasy and vulnerable I felt, but now that I look back and am fully sober, I think I might do it again, just inside this time.

Overall it was pretty bad compared to my other trips, but I think I got something out of it and it was definitely worthwhile.
What do you think of Salvia compared to other hallocinogens?
You may choose only one

Yeah it sucked but I felt like I learned something out of it, I don't know what yet though (this happened earlier today).

I really don't like this line of thinking.

You say chemicals in the brain make us perceive things that aren't real... but following that logic - what is real? I am looking at my computer monitor right now. All it is, is energy condensed to a slow moving vibration. However, these chemicals in my brain are making me THINK that I'm in a "room" using a "computer" and perceive these things as "real".

So what is reality by your definition? is it the world around you, trees, dogs, friends, atoms, elections, TIME?

If so, then I hate to break it to you but all these things are illusions created by your mind. None of these things are "real", merely subjective frames of reference created by your mind.

The whole universe exists at this moment. The illusion of time is created by our perspective on this moment shifting from one frame of reference to another. You might say: "ramblings of a person who uses too many drugs" but no. What I am talking about is physics. Look into things such as the theory of relativity, quantum mechanics, and string theory. I'd hardly call the work of Albert Einstein the ramblings of a "spiritual person".

So if you followed me this far, ask yourself where is the mind? This space that you think you're in, where is it? IT DOESN'T exist. But it feels like it does. Thoughts, emotions, perceptions, self awareness all don't really exist... BUT YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT NOW! You're experiencing something that really (and has been proven) doesn't exist. And yet it's just as "real" as anything.

How can you say, that if a person alters their brain chemistry, that what they experience is any less real than anything else? How can you say that? You can't. Life is subjective, and so is "spirituality". If a person feels they are communicating with god, what's really happening? NOTHING. The universe is still merely vibration across "super strings" all at this moment.

Where is this space where consciousness occurs? if it doesn't occur within the universe, where does it happen?  Some people call it the "soul" or the "spirit".

But think for a moment, could super strings, and all the illusions created by them occur if consciousness didn't exist? No. Super strings are created by simply being aware of "things" and awareness is created by the existence of super strings. One cannot exist without the other and both are eternal.

Now you can see that being spiritual is merely a word one uses to describe themselves. I could just as easily claim to be an atheist or a christian and yet my philosophy would stay exactly the same.

So I advise to remove these labels that society uses like "god", "atheist" and "spiritual" and just explore the universe and your perceptions. In the end the only thing that is real is NOW.

But thanks for the report. While I don't particularly enjoy Salvia they are some of my favorite trip reports to read.

Ok so I just smoked a bowl of some nice purple kush, and that was probably the biggest mindfuck I had ever read, and glad you liked the report!
