I have a pack of t. bridgesii cacti seeds and im about to germinate them but im lookin for other opinions first on how i should do it? The instructions with the seeds say
*Sprinkle on cactus soil 2cm apart. Cover with a thin layer of perlite. Keep at 75F and slightly moist, but not wet. Keep covered to maintain humidity and mist daily. After sprouting, let the soil dry in between watering. Keep out of direct sunlight until established.*
I know certain molds or bacteria might grow in the soil during germination so should i pasteurize the soil in my oven first and at what temp? Is the instructions i quoted above sufficient or should i do it differently?
And how would i be able to transplant several cacti 2cm apart out of one pot? Im used to tapping the whole soil mass out with growing cannabis.

Some people sterilize the soil. I do not. As long as you keep good aiflow and don;t keep the soil too wet, you will be fine.
You'll be able to separate the seedlings carefully if they grow together. Usually something like a toothpick will help you separate the roots.

I nuke mine with a lid cracked and enough excess h20 to keep it wet. I nuke it for 10-15 min. Put the lid down and stick it in the freezer to speed things up. Then Squeeze out the excess moisture. You could take the seeds and swish them around in a little diluted bleach, then wash them in several changes of water like orchid seeds if you wanted. I wonder if anyone has tried to germ on agar plates... Anyways, just put 4 or 5 to a little terra cotta pot. Then stick them in a clear plastic tub. Open it up 1 or twice a day for fae. Inspect to see if and seeds are molding and remove with a knife tip, tweezers, whatever does it for you. If the seeds are reasonably fresh. They should sprout pretty quickly. Its trickier keeping them alive until they get their tap root established and harden up a bit than it is to sprout them imo. Best of luck homie

If you sterilize the soil it will kill all the good protective microbes and open it up for bad stuff to grow. Some people repeatedly get lucky and it doesnt happen. If you use fresh good quality cactus soil it should be resistant to fungal or bacterial problems unless you keep it way too wet. If fungus does show, or is suspected, misting with diluted chamomile tea can suppress it.
If in doubt only plant half the seed to start with.
