I hope I didn't screw up!!
    #14260052 - 04/08/11 06:14 PM (13 years, 11 days ago)

So I soaked my cakes last night for 24 hours.  I removed from the water today and rolled them in dry verm.  I did not rinse them off after they soaked, as it says to do in the video.  Did I fuck up?  They were kept in a bowl in my fridge, covered with a plate and then plastic wrap.

Honestly, I dont think it is that big of a deal. Obviously wait on someone much more experienced then me, but from what ive been told fully colonized mycelium is very resistant to stuff..

If you're really concerned about it you can rinse off the verm and reroll. Or, you can just mist them with some h2o/h2o2 and that should take care of any problems you may have.

DONT mist with h202, it damages the mycelium just as it would anything else. Your cakes are probably fine.

You're telling me hydrogen peroxide hurts cakes? Okay then, I guess all my success with it is just my imagination.

h2o2 should only be used to kill cobweb mold.

i have read a lot saying that you're supposed to rinse, but i recently read a good argument for not rinsing.

does it really matter if you rinse them or not since they're going to soak in water for 24 hours?

they will be fine
I've done that myself
Like that one dude said up there
when their fully colonized you don't have to worry so much about contams
just make sure they get plenty of FAE without the humidity dropping too low

Yes it's your imagination. h2o2 kills mycelium just as it would anything else. Don't use that shit on anything mycological, if you have a contam throw that shit out. If you don't have a contam then don't spray chemicals on it.
