Hi, I seem to have won my battle with my mold issue.Boiled everything, baked my open bag of Verm, new print(syringe)New jars look strong ! Thx for help guys - although still not sure if I had bad verm or LC. P.S. Some bad jars actually looked like good growth was trying to over take mold - quite interesting .

mycelium can overtake some mold(brown-mold for instance) but that's not usually the case. Verm. is a rock and not nutritious to mold, so even if there is mold spores on it, they don't germinate until something is added. 9 times out of 10, I'd pick a bad lc over infected verm. for a vector of contamination

in my experience- most of the time, when i had a contam problem it happen`d because i did`NT use ster il water when making my syringes. when i first started info was hard to come by and no one would share notes (11-14 years ago). if you use regular water it is possible for bacteria to live in it with your spores-kinda laying in wait for a more nutrient environment. Vermiculite and Perlite is also known to have contams resting on or in them waiting for water or nutrients. i use peroxide to clean Verm. and Perlite, it just saves time and i dont have to use the oven or P.C. but- its not as cheap as using the afor mentioned. i think its strange no one ever mentions wearing a simple DUST MASK when doing anything involving a grow. human breath is laiden with all types of bacteria that could cause contamination of substrates- breathe in a BRF jar or on a peitry dish with agar, what you see growing will shock even a seasoned mushroom grower. always remember when growing mushrooms- BLEACH and PEROXIDE are your Friends!
