Nice finds. #2 is Hericium.

I'm gonna go on my first hunt of 2011 in a little while. I don't expect to find much as it's still a little early.

It is still a little early here too, was a fantastic day all the same though.

Hmmm you have me wondering now if the Hericium was an edible sp. :strokebeard:

Nice pics.

I probably would've nibbled on that Hericium. Cool find btw.

#6 is Podoscypha petalodes

I've been out for 2 little strolls, nothing much but plan on a proper hunt next weekend in the bush. Lots of Pan. foes at work. Too many...

Podoscypha petalodes looks like the one cheers

There were a masses of them all around the one spot, my shots of the whole group looked crap though

Nice finds/pics

#5 looks like an Agaricus. Not sure what #1 is but it's really interesting.

I'll have to go for a look around soon.

it shouldn't be hard to narrow it down, the minority of amanitas have a sac at the bottom:shrug:I don't have any info from australia though

Hericium is one of the best edibles IMO...you gotta get 'em when they're youngish though or they start to go bitter

Would Amanita pekeoides be possible?

It seems to be the closest that I can find, I don't seem to be able to find very much info on it, and only finds in NZ.

Probably not that one.

That specimen is a weird one to id because the cap is so split. Would need a few in different growth phases to help with an id.

The native Amanita are very awesome.

Hmmm fair enough, really has me stumped I can find the exact spot again without too much trouble it is a patch of forest I hike very regularily so I will keep my eye out on future trips.

Here is a nice shot of the cap but it seems to have some very artificial blue on it, or at least I thought so....maybe it actually is this way?

The reason I didn't post it initially was because it didn't seem to be naturally occuring.

Thanks again for the help, keen to nail this one down to a sp. so I will try to scout the same spot as much as possible to find some more.

Forgot to tell you that I nominated the first pic

I don't know Amanitaall that well but I think this belongs in sect. Vaginatae. Fresh specimens would definately help with an ID, especially if you could find them at different stages of maturity.

Mushroom Observer is also a great place to get an Amanita ID'd.

> the minority of amanitas have a sac at the bottom
There are lots of volvate Amanitas

That Favolaschia calocera is awesome.  I wish we got those around here.  Talk about a neat looking fungus.

Great pictures all around, as usual.  Thanks for sharing.

Cheers LM, I think they've gotten a lot better in the last year, I seem to rush things a bit still though.

There is always lots of nice shots on here to inspire me to stick at it though.  :mushdance:
