MAOI-A vs. MAOI-B (food diet)??
    #14264167 - 04/09/11 07:57 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I think I read in a post, which I can't seem to find with the search function, that the food restrictions for MAOI are really only for MAOI-B, whereas B. Caapi has MAOI-A.  If there are trace amounts of MAOI-B, there is not enough of it for food to be of much concern.  The poster proceeded to tell of someone who ate all the food he wasn't supposed to, to prove the point.  He was fine, afterall.

I'm just looking for confirmation, before I brew my first Caapi tea.

Caapi contains harmala alkaloids which are reversible inhibitors of MAO-A so yeah you're good.

So what's with all the caution, or is it just confusion?

So, then I can rest assured when letting anyone try Caapi Changa, or enhanced leaf, that they won't be effected.

I wouldn't say that. As far as food diet sure but there are some drugs that can react badly so you should look into that.

Okay, definitely - that's what I was clearing up.  Thanks!
