New season in Central/Nor Cal - questions
    #14263214 - 04/09/11 02:02 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

River and I are two relative newbies here and we hunt primarily (separately btw) in marin and santa cruz respectively.

The season of pan. subs and gyms appears to be waning here, so hunters are out for new species. I've never hunted in spring/summer, and I keep getting conflicting reports on the list of actives in nor cal relative to our locations.

So, I have a few questions.

Are ovoids prevalent enough here to be worth seeking? What can you trusted identifiers/hunters offer as a new target for this area?

thanks <3

Ovoids are not really in California prevalent enough to be worth seeking out.

Start looking for edibles instead of actives, you'll have more luck this time of year, plus it is a lot more rewarding than trying to ID dried up LBM's

Things you can possibly find now in the area's you mentioned:

Chanterelle's, Oyster's, Candy Cap's & Springtime Amanita's
