No, sorry, only an idiot would believe the sun could affect something like satellites or the climate. It's simply too far away.

Sunburns?
I bet you think people get them because the earth warmed their skin.
At the thought of some people

Ok, so the sun expels one motherfucking huge fireball. Is there any documentation that it will head anywhere near earth? I mean there is 360 degrees of variation for it to hit one tiny little target millions of miles away that's like 1/100th the size of a marble.
It's like shooting a 120mm howitzer and expecting it to hit his target, even if he's shooting in the opposite direction.
-------------------- Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

I'd say it's more than 360 degrees since the sun isn't 2-dimensional.

X class flares have knocked out satellites plenty of times. They also disturb the earths electromagnetic field which can cause natural disasters.
Oh and solar minimum my ass. We're heading into a solar maximum

Its not a projectile and its inversely expanding radiation Its way more likely to hit earth then you would want to believe.
then again anything anybody says about disasters is always mocked and instantly shrouded in tinfoil by people like wakeboard.

You're right. I was thinking 2 dimensional.
The higher dimensional version of angle (or radian) is the 'steradian'. There are steradians of solid angle in a sphere.
But note that the steradian is 2-dimensional, as it mapps out the 2-D surface of a sphere. Traditional angles are 1-dimensional.

It's really weird when you seriously contemplate the fact that the entire human race could be completely wiped out by any number of comological/geological events.
(extensive use of italics for emphasis)
For me it's the final proof that we should all just chill the FUCK back, stop killing each other and enjoy the fireworks when they come.

I strongly believe we're in the final stretch. People can say all they want about 2011 judgement day or 2012 or whatever and how its not going to happen...but the signs are all around. The world is in such shit condition. All around. Wars, debt, increase in earthquake activity and other natural disasters, swarms of large solar flares, global warming, the shit thats going down in the middle east, the worlds new radiation problem. Shit is NOT going to get better

Shit has been getting better for thousands of years, and continues to get better every year.
We have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of years left as a species.
