I've been reading that people are testing the pH with liquid aquarium test kits. I have a few of these freshwater ph test kits for my aquariums. I tested the filtered tap water I use and it comes out to 7.6. Then I tested the water with nutes (foxfarm big grow and tiger bloom) and that comes out to about 6.4. I also tested the run off after watering with the nutes mentioned above a few hours ago...that came out to about 6.6

Can I trust these results or should I still purchase a soil pH tester?

That should probably be fairly accurate. Even if adding the nutes is getting the pH down temporarily, that doesn't mean that its holding there. For an example, lets say that your soil is too basic. You look around the house, what do I have? Ahh.. vinegar! Well it seems like it would work. It lowers the pH of the water, when I test the run off it looks better. But the next day when I go back to check on it, God damn, up again! This is because vinegar doesn't hold the pH down. Its too weak of an acid. (true story btw)The excess minerals in the soil just had more staying power than the vinegar Citric acid will work. I'm guessing that the fox farms stuff isn't meant to alter your pH much. There could likely be too much calcium carbonate or another similar mineral salt in your tap which is accumulating in your soil, gradually raising the pH, eventually causing lock out issues. They couldalready be happening. Some of the micros can cause "hidden hunger" which isn't outwardly obvious but does negatively impact you plant. I do think that a good pH meter is more accurate and worth owning. If you really can't afford one now, wait until you can get a decient one. If youre spending less than $100 you're probably waisting you money
Being that ebay is encouraged:
MOD EDIT: Removed vendor link Thats what I'd get. (its what I have and its what I see a lot of folks using)

I got one of these, still have it I think. If I do, I'm not sure why it hasn't made it to the trash yet:

Its even hanna, but it won't hold a calibration for shit and was a fucking waste of $30.

There was this one for $58 that looked ok, but I haven't used it:

I hope that helps.

Tips pointing down like that indicates it needs a larger pot.

I don't think you have any real issues there.

If it were pH you would see signs of this like intervienal chlorosis or the colour of the leaves would change indicating a P or K deficiency.

A high nutrient problem like N would have those leaves curling like ram's horns and not just pointing down.

Been a while since I grew but this doesn't change the basics. Plant looks ok in my eyes.
