I have some hpoo I'd like to use for casings. What's the best (and least expensive) tek on this site to follow? So far I've only done pftek. Thanks!

None for casing with hpoo.
A casing is supposed to be a non-nutritive moisture retaining material that is used to provide an optimal micro climate. A casing is not required for cubes.
Use your hpoo as bulk substrate, not as a casing, and check out the search posts function of this forum to find a hpoo pasteurization tek

maybe they mean bulk yo...
any hpoo mix that has enough air and isnt' wet will work.
If it is too wet it will contam... Also pasturise it properly otherwise you will get cobweb..
Too wet = high temp thermophillic bacteria bloom (stanks nasty) Too wet surface or not pasturised properly. = cobweb (dactilum sp?) Ummm yeah.. if the PH is off or anything else is off you will get trich. If you follow a tek follow the tek don't deviate unless you want to fail.
It is good for shaggy manes too... use the same mix though otherwise you can have the same issues.
I have some shaggy mane cultures I'm making up soon. (coprinus spp..)

RR's horse manure tek is the least expensive and simplest to follow. Just click the mushroom video's link RR's sig to find the sample clips.
As stated above, for cubesis cultivation, horse manure is best utilized as a bulk substrate material, not as a casing, unless you are referring to the "casing" as the "bulk substrate" material.
Good casing materials are vermiculite and peat moss + (gypsum and hydrated lime). While looking through RR's sample video clips, there'll also be a simple, inexpensive casing preparation video that you can follow.

Dont case your cubes anywho, not really necessary, try some crumbled wax paper(works like a charm over the sub) But why u r watching RR vids, watch the one about a shot gun terrarium and make that.

I've been pretty confused as to what bulk means...it's not in the glossary, either. So I think I finally understand, that "bulk" refers to mixing the spawn (in my case WBS) into the substrate (in my case hpoo), (or cutting slices of spawn, and layering them). Is that correct? And there is debate as to whether a non-nutritive top layer, or casing is needed? If I'm using these terms wrong, then I'm misinterpreting everything I read, so please let me know! I'm trying hard to learn!

What I do is find Horsepoo thats been sitting around for a winter then I put it in a bag take it inside and then put what I need in a old pillow case then Pasterize for 2 hrs at 160 then cool it and mix it with my WBS thats colonized real well and let that sit in the dark with little air for a week or so then fruit it after it turns all white.

Seems right: Spawn, (grain coverd in mycelium) Bulk: Hpoo/ coir or what not. Casing: Top non nutritive layer, Like Cactus soil, or crumpled wax paper. but really dont need a casing on cubes.

someone mentioned RR's, and here are some more links you may find useful. be sure to read on proper pasteurization if you are committed to using the
most people mix or layer rather than slicing.
a casing layer is not needed, but I see a lot of great results when they are used by the advanced growers around these parts. I recommend learning proper pasteurization and getting a few successful bulk grows completed before messing with it.
hope this helps
