San Pedro tea straining question - Is there an easy way?

Hey friends,
So I'm just making some San Pedro tea by boiling/simmering three times around and straining the liquid in between, then plan to boil it down to a lesser amount of liquid since mesc has a high boil point anyway.
So is there an easy way to strain the liquid after boiling? I find that it turns into a huge mush of finely ground cactus and water that won't go through a standard steel wire mesh and is quite difficult to strain through a t shirt, cheese cloth or tights.
Is there an easier way?

Oh I have done in the past. I'm not sure if the consistency of my tea is as good as it should be. It seems to be a gloop rather than a liquid, I don't strain it so much as it wrestle it out of the t shirt and scape it off my hands...
Is yours a liquid? How much water/lemon juice do you put in the pot?

If your getting goopy stuff floating on the top of the liquid you could try skimming that off with a big spoon/ladle or something. I usually do that because i assume its just wax from the skin or something.
I am also coincidentally brewing up a batch of pedro tea, 3 hrs and 1 pull in so far. I just used about 120g of mid sized chips and started with 2 litres of water, referencing what a liter(2ppl x ~500ml) looked like first. Just use enough to cover whatever amount of cactus your using. Gently boil it down as the water evaporates to the point where it starts becoming equally cactus and water by volume(hard to stir) and add more water to keep stuff floating.
After a couple hours I strain the cactus/tea through a strainer with roughly pencil size holes, mushing any extra water out of the cactus chips i can. Set the liquid aside in another pot, add fresh water to the mushy cactus chips and repeat the original process. Put all the pulls together in one pot and then gently boil it to your desired volume. I find about 500ml per person usually isnt too thick to drink and isn't so thin you have to drink a ton.
Are you maybe boiling your cactus too hard which is turning the chips into mush? You should be able to easily seperate the tea and the cactus chips during strain. Then you should be able to skim any waxy gloop that forms on the combined pulls your boiling down to make it thinner.
My first recommendation would be to try a strainer with bigger holes though.
You might also need to be using more water so that there is some above the saturation point for the cactus mush.

On second thought.. Are you using chips or cactus powder? If your using cactus powder you probably will need to let it sit long enough for the particles to settle before straining. When the particles have settled you will need to gently pour off the top clearer liquid being careful not to spill any of the powder into your container.

Use the crotch of your GF's pantyhose.
That way your tea will smell a little like the ocean too!

I always use dried chips instead of powder. Makes for a potent mix of resin, the right amount for me anyways. I guess it also depends on where you get your cactus from.
Either way I recommend going with dried chips as opposed to powder.

I ground down about 120-150g of chips into a powder as I figure this makes it easier for all alkaloids to be extracted while preparing tea. Or is that more related to how long you let it brew? Incidentally I did use panty hose for straining 
I never use any volume of water near 2L, more like just covering the powder and maybe a couple of inches above that to start, then top off with the minimum required to not let it burn.
Should really do an extraction, but not all the chemicals for this are available in the UK.
