Take spore prints, I'm not sure any of those are Psilocybe subaeruginosa

It looks like you have something close to Cortinarius rotundisporus and maybe another species

Many of those look nothing like subs, you will need to sort through that lot carefully, print and post up the ones you are unsure about for I.D.

Here are some really clear shots of Psilocybe subaeruginosa from LM's journal on his last years finds: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12983578

They should all bruise blue, and print a purplish colour if they are subs.

Good luck and happy hunting

I think it's justa bout time to go for my first hunt!

I've got tomorrow off work and thought it would be a good idea to go for a drive (few hours away so i hope i'm right) up around blowering dam..

Reason being because my friend i canberra came across some subs the other day and blowering is not that far off..

Temps have been:
Sunday 13.5 - 17  9mm rain
Monday 6.5 - 15  3mm rain
Tuesday 6 - 14    2mm forecasted
Wednesday 7 - 17

I'll be looking up in the hills/mountains/whatever so i think the conditions may be even better up there!

Hopefully should be a good first hunt!

OMG The NSW tread is bigger than the VIC thread! Well done guys.

Knew I'd see a nice result from Msanchez!

Just went for a hunt around the Illawarra Mountain scape. Found only 2 subs. Looks like the season will be a big one for me, can't wait.

I  was also wondering what these ones are... They seemed to have a some bluish colour towards the bottom of the stem

The second ones are Omphalotus nidiformis. The fresh fruit bodies are bioluminescent.

yeeew, the season to be jolly. couple of quick questions. I found none on the central coast last year but was told there were places they grew. this year im down in Strathfield a couple times a week and there are some park areas around... Any chance i will find anything round that area? I know northern beaches gets subs but have I got a chance in Strathfield.
happy hunting

I think itd be easier to catch an express train to Katoomba. Wont take you long and youd have a MUCH higher chance to find them there then Strathfield.

Hello all, kinda new here. First season for me, just read through the 2010 thread and it has taught me plenty! (props to msanchez). Anways keen and confident to get in on the fun, will defo post up pics of my finds (fingers crossed). Either way success or not, I'm in it for the learning experience, not just with actives but the wonderful world of the local fungi. Bring it on NSW!

The only reason i asked about strathfield is coz im there for uni and have a 3 hour break between classes and thought i could do some hunting in my spare time but sounds like prob wont be worth it. Ive read many times bout people going to katoomba to hunt... I know where not ment to ask for specifics but in katoomba can you just go on all them bush walks to like the three sisters n stuff and expect to find anything?

I might make a couple trips out there this season

thanks

Here's some photo's of what me and my girlfriend got yesterday on our first hunt... we is noobs

We were up in the hilly areas between Tumut and Canberra where there's lots of pine trees..

Was damp, found these in patch's.

There was lost of purple and orange mushies, we grab some of what looked the most like subs, had the lil peak thing in the middle of the cap and went like dark purple color after we brought them home..

I'm not 100% confident, but it was the closest i could see...

Those really dont look like subs.. Im not the most trusted identifier as I just fucked up my recent hunt myself  but yeh..

Btw groveller, if it has rained for a few days in katoomba, you can find shrooms in peoples lawns too, so I bet there'll be some on trail walks too.

ok, no worries, thanks, I was just wondering where the best place round the blue mountains would be to go for a full day of hunting.
