You can grow and fruit mushrooms in temperatures lower than 75F and higher than 80F, those temperatures just outline the ideal circumstances.

I was worried about that too, if you have a fridge put your inoculated jars on top of that. I have mine up there and they are sitting at around 78 degrees.
Other then colonisation time being slightly slower, you will get results. Fruiting temps can be much lower then ideal colonization temps.

Thanks for the quick answers.
The problem is, i have yet to see a spot of mycelium in one of my 3 jars (injected 5-6 days ago). I did everything exactly like its supposed to be done but the temp varies from 55-65 i reckon. Have i ruined the whole thing or will it only take longer time?

Im a student and share kitchen with other students so that would not be possible unfortunately (*house -> apartment*).
Is there some kind of a warming element i could use?

55 is probobly much too low. Maybe putting them near a space heater if you have one. My jars did not show any sign of life for 6 days either. Give it 10 days before you get worried.

Perhaps a heat blanket. If you have an aquarium heater, you can make a small tub in tub incubator although this is frowned upon nowadays. Or a seedling/aquarium heating pad would work. A small space heater set to the right temperatures would work.

I would suggest not growing at all until you have your own place, growing in a dorm, shared living facility, or with roomates is a sure fire way to get busted.
Pay attention in school now, grow drugs later.

Since you say that, do you expect me to say "oh yeah thats a good suggestion, i have never thought about that before, i will stop with this right away..."?
This is a risk (there is none to be honest, i dont live in USA and doorms where i live works very different than in USA) i take and when i go to shroomery.org, i expect not to get morale preaches.
But i dont want to move ot now, thanks for the help everyone! I will report back what happens...

I disagree. Although I dont live in a dorm, I live in an apartment close to campus with a random kid. I grow and he still doesnt know It can be done, but if I lived in an actual dorm, fuck that.

LMAO! thats awesome. ive fruited as low as 60f, its slower, but they are denser too. colonization was at 60-65, as was the fruiting temps. so don't break your neck trying to make a perfect upper 70's environment. cubes will grow in a wide range of conditions. a light bulb shining on them should be enough. spores can take a few weeks. don't start worrying yet. they should be fine.

I saw two tiny dots of mycelium in one of the boxes today!

boxes? wtf? why are they in boxes? developing myc love light. It's good for them.
As for temps, put an oil filled radiator style space heater & have that running @ all times in your closet to maintain temps around 70. I've got one in my colonization room & I keep it on Low #3 & it maintains 74, but I've also have a lot of stuff colonizing in there, which increases temperatures.
GL buddy, & as for the morale advice other users are giving you, adhere to it. I kicked my roommate out, because I wanted to start growing. The less they know the better off you'll be . & I don't know how anyone can grow w/out anyone else in the house knowing. I mean, even if you're doing PF tek, how do you explain the pot of boiling jars on the stove for 2 hours? & the smell?! I mean, my house constantly smells like mushrooms. When I have people over, I have to go through the whole house & Oust the shit outta it, burn incense & just to cover the smell. IMHO you'd be better off to do all your research now, move into your own place by yourself or w/ 1 other person that's interested in growing & rock out from there.

I grow at 60-70 degrees F regularly. It just takes longer. Dude, don't worry. I just throw my jars in a box on the top shelf in the closet. The thing is, don't look at them every single day. So what if it takes ten days instead of six to see the first growth? Or a month to colonize instead of two weeks? You work with what you've got. I don't use incubators, heaters, pumps, light or anything like that. Just jars and Roger Rabbits Fruiting Chamber. Be patient and stay the course. You'll be fine.
