Ok, so i'm into blues from the post WW2 era. I listen to music not only for how it moves me but for its historical significance. Listening to the great blues musicians of the 50's and 60's helps to put the rock and roll so many white folks in the 60's and 70's would come to love in context.
Lightnin' Hopkins. Specifically the album "Goin' Away". Such a pure and simple blues album recorded beautifully.
B.B. King. Live at the Regal.
Muddy Waters. Live at Newport Jazz Festival.
--------------------
"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

yea i feel like nobody remembers how raw and ferocious eminem used to be, you know man?
but yo, check out this version of catfish blues by jimi hendrix.
about petway (and that is only 1 't', that was a typo in my previous post), he only recorded 16 songs and then apparently dissapeared off the face of the earth, no record of his death or dissapearance. he originally wrote catfish blues, and apparently was a big influence on John Lee Hooker and Jimi Hendrix

Nixon was a asshole. Just look at his biggest creation. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the DEA. Which secretly stands for Demonizing Everyone by Allegations.

while we're bustin' out some old, old school blues might as well make mention of Charley Patton. His most famous song, "Spoonful Blues", has some phenomenal slide guitar work. This track was recorded in 1929 so you'll have to forgive the muddiness of the recording.
He's singin' about women and the troubles they bring (that, and the troubles cocaine adds in the mix).
