Predicted the end of the world
    #14254797 - 04/07/11 06:27 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Do you believe anyone or any thing (ancient texts and such) can predict the end of the world?

So far no prediction for the end of the world has been true (this should be obvious). Many gurus/mystics/religious leaders have told people "the end is near" when in fact life goes on. It is an easy way to get people to fake spirituality. But i just don't buy it.

For someone to know when the world is going to end would require some type of omniscience.

For a book to predict when the world would end the universe would have to be pre-determined. Choices affect outcomes. If it knew the outcome it would know the choices which we made. Basically im saying predicting the end of the world requires predetermination.

I'm more afraid of predetermination than the end of the world. Any thoughts?

i don't think it's one particular culture that is buggin everyone out about 2012, i think it's a combination of them all, add the pick up of natural  disasters plus a little mahem in the middle east and you've got yourself an anti-social paranoid 2012 junkie.

one other constant theme i notice within these predictions is that it isn't necessarily the end, but a "transition" period.

i'm into astrology and it seems that looking into this leads me into interesting types of astrological interpretation, and along with astrology comes prediction.
