Work laptop
    #14254133 - 04/07/11 04:22 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

So in my work, ive been given a laptop to use on a daily basis. During work there is a lot of down time and a couple of us play games. When i was younger i played a whole lot of counter strike 1.6 and so i thought it would be fun to play with my coworkers. So basically i got it to run, but i cant play with anyone else because we each have a firewall and lack administrative privileges. Does anyone know a way to turn off windows firewall or how to bypass it without admin? (its on windows xp and i cannot edit the registry either)

if the IT department is even halfway competent they should be blocking it at the network level.

the fact that you are able to install it but not get network communication reinforces that thought.

if that is the case then you wont be able to do anything.

I can't install anything, i had installed the game onto a flash drive, where i moved it into the C drive where i can run the .exe. Im not positive, but i believe that it is blocked on a local level. Ill check to make sure and post after i check, which wont be for a while.

Everything is definitely blocked on the local level, there is a separate network firewall that blocks internet sites, but i already know of ways around that.
