Yes it will.
So will dressing your soldiers up like civilians, setting up troops in hospitals, keeping weapon stockpiles in schools, sending suicide bombers and hiding your troops in civilian areas.

Yes they are afraid, but the Iraqi leadership has absolutely no regard for the lives of the civilians. They have already lost the war. They can't win. All they are doing is causing more civilian casualties. They won't even let the civilians leave the battlefield for Gods sake.

i just wanted to say that it's nice to see one of the conservative group actually respond to the issue at hand.

even if someone disagrees with you, you're actually sticking to the topic and applying logic... good....

i think the whole thing is a difficult, ugly situation. wars always are. the US soldiers didn't know the man was wearing his pinstripe suit to look american. the soldiers didn't know it wasn't a suicide bombing about to happen. the family didn't think a family would get shot up.

war is just ugly.

typical liberal knee-jerk emotional reaction.

psilo.. it was a terrible accident. they can't just allow vehicles to speed towards checkpoints and wait to see if they've got either a family in them or a kilo of TNT. there are rules they have so that people aren't getting blown away by truck bombs at checkpoints. they don't fuck around when it comes to preventing a truck full of explosives from barreling into a checkpoint and blowing up 20 or 30 troops. so.... you speed your car at the checkpoint, you get shot at like bonnie and clyde. this event is tragic, it's terrible. i imagine the troops feel terrible for what happened, but they certainly shouldn't feel guilty. they didn't do anything wrong. if anything, the blame lies on whomever wrote the pamphlets or whatever, whoever did not porperly communicate to the iraqis the proper protocols for approaching a checkpoint. if the pamphlets had said "DRIVE SLOWLY" (which would seem to be the #1 rule...) this wouldn't have happened.

although... i would think of it as common sense not to speed a car towards a checkpoint, but that's just me.

I was mod 4 years ago, elected by the members of the shroomery.. back when this place even used to resemble a "democracy". I have no access to the servers and I dont care when you logged on or off, if you truly have such an exciting and fullfilling life then fantastic for you, but being around here for this long Ive talked to and met a whole slew of people like you, so I tend to just go ahead and let precedence influence my opinions.

Oh yeah, but it isnt in this forum right, some other forum is the "proper" place for that kind of nonsense, but my opinions about this bush junta cant contain any profanities? This place is a bastion for democracy and actual political thought and theory, right? Give me a fucking break... This place is an escape for a bunch of mostly teenagers/ early 20 somethings that need to get their head out of their asses and realise that this is their world that is being destroyed right now. I guess, we will just have to wait and see who gets the final "I told you so" about a us lead genocide.

What misogynists do to find this place constantly amazes me, but it is par for the course. Casualties are so casual to you that it makes me afraid that you are a member of my country, that you could ever be near a child.... it frightens me on so many levels. I wish so often I could go back to be being a child, to not being able to even comprehend these things to feel safe again in my world, even though people that think killing a family of people is okay exist. But I cant, so Ill scream and yell and tell you all about the things that were done in your name and I have no desire to mince any words or give a shit about being a potty mouth. This is something I would die for, this is my right to say it and if my only outlet for the absolute overwhelming fear, disgust and heartbreak I feel is to scream obscenities from the roof tops -- then Id suggest you plug your ears or put a bullet through my head because Im not stopping that for you, or for anyone.

Heh, you show your "age" , guess you have no idea of the fact that the message boards were deleted including all member messages a few years back. Most of the members that meant anything to me left shortly thereafter. I find it funny as I sit here next to the first mod of the political forum at the shroomery, the main reason this forum even exists (someone who's nick you dont even know) we are playing a "Im more instrumental to the shroomery" game based upon posts. Shit, based upon anything for that matter. Im not an active member of this community in its current reincarnation. I dont care if you dont know who I am, the many many hours Ive contributed to this site and a great deal of its members past and present. Ive paid my dues here.

The hospital the iraqi troops were holed up in was not a working hospital, just like the schools and christian churches that our troops occupy.

How is it wrong for them to do it, but right for us?

Also, before you blast the source of this article, do a google search you will find similar articles from numerous sites.

mushmaster, why is it that even though your post was very relevant and thought out you have to brand me a liberal with knee jerk emotions? These are HUMAN emotions. I mean, no offense, but these are opinions that Ive thought out quite a bit and its kind of annoying that they have to be underscored as "liberal knee jerk reactions".

Ive even talked to several in the military, albeit Navy, that are just as appauled by this. I find it funny that one of the boatswains mates I know was the first person I heard in real life say, "Fuck the soldiers" after he informed me of this "miscommunication" He got a bit more expletive then that, but Ill chalk it up to service rivalry.

See, the thing is.. there seem to be alot of different accounts.. some say that the iraqi civilians thought they were being waved on... they couldnt understand english and I doubt many of our young boys in uniform speak arabic. Do you? Frankly, in the same circumstance, after being bombed in my small farming village and then trying to flee to safety.. I dont know what I would do. I know Id be very scared. You say the blame doesnt lie on the soldiers, even though their commanding officer chastised them for not firing a warning shot and killing a whole family.... He didnt give that order for fire, some trigger happy soldier took that matter into his own hands.

Please explain to me how if you fire a gun that kills innocent people it isnt your fault. Are all humans capable of free thought? I thought that was one of the things that set us a part from the apes. I just dont buy that "orders" or "duty" exempt you from bearing that responsibility.
