Kidney Stones

Anybody else get them too? I've had chronic (not the good chronic) stones since Green Bay in 2005. The doctors always say it's more common than I'd think, but I think it's their method of making me feel better than saying "tough shit"....So, is it as common as they say? or do I just suck?
I fish em outta the toilet so the doctors don't think I'm some pill chaser, but they're so fucking stingy with the pain meds, its crazy.
Oh, and I made the mistake of going to 3 different hospitals during the past few years, got a CT scan plus X-rays in each one...Needless to say, Ive reached my radiation limit for quite a while. Plus, all that's been down towards my junk, so any kids I accidentally make may be all

EDIT: the pic sucks, I know....and that thing on the right is some gnarly seed pod (supposed to be a joke)

Ironically the pain comes from my back when they're going from the kidney to the bladder...My shLong, while it's by no means HUGE, handles them ok.
I'll be pissing, often in public and it feels like getting electrocuted when they pass. My whole body just goes stiff and shudders, then im pissing blood just
My family doesn't really care, and since the Shroomery is the coolest fam there is, I thought I'd turn here for some kidney stone dialogue.

I passed a kidney stone about 8 years ago. It was fucking crazy because I had no idea what was happening and the pain was terrible. Went to the ER and it finally reached the bladder just as I was getting through triage. The big misconception is that the pain comes from pissing the stone out, this is not true. As you said the passing of the stone from the kidney to the bladder is the awful part.
Anyhow, since then I started drinking a lot more water and haven't had any problems since.

They have me on these pills that make me piss more and keep calcium out of my piss somehow... They're some sort of high blood pressure pills (Amiloride HCL?) and whenever I go to the pharmacy to pick em up they say "Here's your blood pressure medication, sir" Im fucking 28, not 58.

Alcohol breaks down kidney stones, but I'm sure if you're not hydrated while drinking you'll get them anyways.
That's why I drink whiskey when I get bladder/liver pains.

Ive had em since 2005 (at least when the 1st one passed) who knows how long they were brewing before that.
The last time I seen the doc in October he gave me the prescription and wanted me to come back in July for another CT scan to see what progress is being made. So, the drama is killing me. He also said drink a ton of water, of course, but when I drink too much water I feel all weird and shit, I cant explain it, but I get the shits and feel kind of confused, so ... IDK?
I just like to vent I guess, my peeps are tired of hearing about it, so ya'llz are now subjected to it...I have a nice little collection of em though, in a shot glass...Its good to pull em out and see peoples faces when I show em

I had a CT scan yesterday to check progress, outcome is not good they found a 7 mm stone in my right kidney, along with "innumerable" (i.e. didnt wanna count em all) others in both kidneys. again....
they're saying I gotta go to outpatient surgery for a lithotripsy procedure.
Has anybody here ever had a lithotripsy? I'll assume 'no', but ya never know unless you ask.

I had my operation Monday. It was quite the experience. They did what they called "twilight anesthesia" on me, where apparently you're awake and functioning, but just super chill and don't remember a thing. The last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist saying that he's pushing off now and then I woke up in the recovery room pretty confused as to what had happened. I was pissing blood, blood clots and stones for the past few days, but now it's pretty much just stones a little bigger than sand now. It still , but the percocets make me pretty
Plus, I started watching Breaking bad, went a got the 1st and 2nd seasons on DVD, watched em both and downloaded S.3 and am on the 3rd episode now. Shit is pretty dope

Are you asking what is causing these?
If so, then, IDK. Ive been seeing a nephrologist (kidney DR) and he's trying to find out why. Whether its hormonal or dietary. The problem is, is that they need like a 3-7 year window to see if what they're doing is actually working. It's quite frustrating .
Im on meds, but they wont know if this course is actually working for some time. My 1st stone passed in 2005 and Ive passed countless since. Most have been small 1-3 mm (which still sucks) but this one was too big to pass, so they had to go in a take care of it. Shitty thing is, they need to do my left side now too. So, round 1 is done, on to round 2.
They pretty much told me to get used to this, that it will probably be lifelong
Monday will bill in close to $30,000 D.A.N.G!

damn, i've known too many people with kidney stones. wtf in our diets/lifestyles is causing so many people to have them?

Those are the causes for a lot of people, and it's CONTRIBUTING to mine, however, there's something else going on inside of me that makes stones more than the average Joe.
My body kicks too much calcium in to my blood, more than usual and my urine PH is such that it allows crystals to form (ultimately in to stones)
This one I had blasted, turned out to be 8mm instead of 7mm (over a 1/4 inch big)...so more or less, I have 500-600 stones now, instead of that 1...plus the other ones in that kidney they got while in there.

i wasn't thinking of any specifically, but i'm sure there are natural cures/preventive measures you can look into that aren't as invasive as "modern" medicine.
doctors are akin to mechanics; they know how to work on the body but not with it.

Definitely too much acid, but not necessarily lsd, lol.
Body will release calcium from bones to return pH of blood to normal levels if the blood is too acidic.
Anyway you cut it, OP is going to put DR's kids through college.
I'd find a new doctor.

I've had two I think, what I believe was the first one happened to me in middle school but wasn't diagnosed, I was worried about it being my appendix but the doctors just thought I had colic or something. the second time was even worse but at least I was diagnosed, I still have the CT scans and a zoomed-in picture of my calcium oxalate stone laying around here somewhere.
all I can say is that shit fucking SUCKS. inescapable, dull yet stabbing, throbbing abdominal pain worse than you've ever felt, nausea, the whole nine yards. they were giving me opiates in my IV drip but it wasn't doing shit. haven't been through it again in quite a few years, but if you have a kidney stone once (especially as a kid) you're more than likely to have one again in the future so that's unsettling to say the least.

Yeah man, I've been eating a lot healthier and also haven't gotten a stone since I stopped eating meat. there was only like a year or so between my first and second stones, but it's been a hell of a lot longer since my last one so I must be doing something right. I'm sure I'll have another one again someday but for the sake of my own sanity I'm just going to not even consider the possibility of being in your situation. you've passed hundreds of stones??? that's fucking awful man!
