First Time with some questions

Hi all,
After reading the John Hopkins study on magic mushrooms, I felt that it could heal something in me I have. Those not aware of the study need just go to wikipedia and type in Magic Mushrooms. I'm 24 a college student, bipolar, and suffering from a 4 year long existential crisis. I have smoked marijuana every day for 3 years from 18-21. I have been smoking JWH about twice a month (a version of which is legal in my state) from 21-24. I'm very aware of chemistry as my mom is a pharmacist. So anyway what I'm asking whats the best way to make this the best experience (aside from having a good natured trip sitter) for me I know the first rule is education anything else?

personal opinion here, but if your trip sitter has never tripped, no matter how good natured they are, you dont want them to trip sit for you.
hmmmm
in addition to that....
just make sure you are in a very comfortable place. a place where as few random things can occur (like people showing up uninvited). turn off your phone. dont watch tv.
listen to what you think is good music, but nothing too pumped up and energetic if youre trying to just chill and think about shit, otherwise you will pick up the pumped up and energetic vibe and you'll be raving instead of doing some introspection.
uhhhh
i personally like dim lights. and smoking bud.
dont get worried about where the trip takes you, look at everything in an immensely "sarcastic" way. thats at least how i feel on mushrooms. things just seem so peripheral and the issues of day to day life seem ridiculous and abstract. it really helps me put shit in perspective in that way. dont freak out if youre trip is going in one direction and try to fight it into another direction. just let it all happen.
let go, dont fight it.
if you cant have a trip sitter who is very experienced with tripping, trip by yourself. you sound like you have a good head on your shoulders. taking shrooms isnt going to make you do shit you wouldnt normally do. it might give you thoughts and feelings you wouldnt normally have, but i never experience the loss of my common sense.

Since you are bi-polar, I would NOT do them alone for your first time. Things could go very, very wrong. I am not gonna say that you can't use psychedelics, many people with bipolar disorder says it has helped them, but you should be very careful with them. That which has the ability to do great "good," has equal ability to do "bad."I would find a trip sitter who you are very comfortable with, preferably one that has tripped before. However, if you are hell-bent on tripping and can't find a trip sitter that has tripped before, have a trip sitter who has not tripped before. I cannot stress this enough for a person with bipolar disorder, have a trip sitter, at least for your first time.
Also, if you are on any kind of medications such as SSRI's/SNRI's these may cause you to have a weak, bad or no trip at all.
As you are probably well aware, the John Hopkins study went to extreme lengths to make sure the individuals were in a comfortable, judgment free environment. Make sure you won't have the urge to "hide" something, such as being high, emotions you don't want others to see, or traumatic experiences. And make available to yourself the option to go outside (preferably not out in public). You may not wanna go outside during the trip, but giving yourself the option is all you need especially when you start to feel cramped inside a house, with all this energy and feel like you're missing something that which only the outdoors can satisfy. Or you might just zone out on the couch haha.
I am glad you are researching it before doing it, unlike many people today (especially among the highschool/college crowd, yes many college kids are just bigger highschoolers). The shroomery is an awesome place for shroom info (if you couldn't tell already lol) A few great places for more information can be found at: erowid.org bluelight.ru (psychedelic section, look for the Big & Dandy Mushroom thread) http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=391870

Graff that made the most sense. You gotta pack before you trip. I also feel comfortable with my sitter she is my fiancee of 2 years. Shes very well educated on psychedelics although shes only tryed Marijuana. I feel very sure of this I feel like I can let things out. My dad who has done this and recommended this is just a phone shot away. Hes offered himself to be there. I'll check out that bluelight thread. I already checked erowid and wikipedia. Also I don't take anti depressants ever they are awful things. I take benzo's about 3x a day. I smoke cigs and thats it.

Your good Have your fiancee smoke weed during, it puts her on a higher level. Don't take benzos before the trip, you will make it less
