Poo Q
    #1425118 - 04/03/03 02:53 AM (13 years, 8 months ago)

Hi. This guy I know just cased his poo, and noticed a kind of discolored spot in one of his bins and another spot that seemed to be not completely colonized (slightly browner than the rest of the myc). He had to soak up water from the top of the poo a couple of times, but it colonized completely. Should he worry about this casing? Thanks.

As long as the spot isn't obviously contamination like trichoderma (a different kind of white that soon becomes green with spores) or cobweb (an off white to grayish that often looks like cobwebs), it's probably fine.  If you pastuerized your poo properly, it should be pretty resistant to contamination.

If the discoloration / water is a yellowish, it could just be "mycelium piss" which is excess metabolites from the mycelium that doesn't seem to present a problem in most cases, so its fine that you soaked it up as long as you were clean about it but it probably wasn't necessary anyway.

Really only time will tell if you have a problem, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply, man. The water was mycelial-piss yellow, so the guy's not as concerned. Pasteurization went well...he's got his fingers crossed. Thanks.
