nope not really, kind of a larger lecture class, i just continue to talk about it with the people around me but nothing too much larger than that..
it sounds wierd to say, but the race's at my school that arent white have absolutely no thoughts about prohibition at all. Its like they cant even comprehend the concept that prohibition might be wrong..

I find that if certain people don't accept that the problems of current drug prohibition are the same ones that saturated alcohol prohibition during the 20s then they're usually unreachable. This is especially hard to explain in the context to more dangerous drugs like heroin or crack... but if they won't even accept this notion with drugs like marijuana or shrooms then it's obvious they're just maintaining a wall of cognitive dissonance and the only one who can truly convince themselves at that point is themselves.

No, Ironically, refunds is part of what will be affected. But not of course tax receiving... Lol It will likely take longer than It already has...

so basically when prop 19 was coming around in november, I went around and passed out flyers and talked to people to vote yes for it, and alot of them just ignored me or just restated anti prohibiton sentiment etc. and we all know prop. 19 lost by what, 5%?
Soo any ways today in class, people come and talk to us to try and vote to not cut state funding for community colleges. they are planning on increasing the tuition from 26$/unit to anywhere from 66$-108$ per unit. Everyone was all tripping out and they said that the community colleges funding is going to be cut inbetween 400 million and 1 billion dollars if the measure goes through.
I raise my hand with a grin on my face laughing a little bit and say " so basically our education is being cut anywhere from 400M-1B dollars right?" "Yeah" " You know California spent inbetween 700M-1B dollars last year arresting and prosectuting citizens for marijuana related crimes?, And that we are due to spend another 350-500M dollars this yeah doing the same to non violent marijuana offenders, Our state is broke and we have no choice but to accept tuition price hikes, you should have voted yes for prop 19"

you in class

Honestly, who knows what the real numbers would truly represent spending-wise. The government abuses the shit out of double-speak ("war on drugs is over") and they constantly rename all of their spending sectors so they can show people that "look we're changing thangs".

That doesn't account for discretionary funding? Usually there seems to be about 600 billion put aside for congressional spending (which seems to usually go to wars..)

they have admitted that the pentagon defense budget can't be audited because of the discontinuity of their fiscal records between all the different parts of defense

I don't think so. A complete government shutdown would be anarchy, and in my opinion . It's funny that the senate and house will still be getting paid to bicker while other federal employees won't get paid. Utter bullshit. They should be held accountable for this clusterfuck.
