Im going to get some wbs from walmart and follow docs wbs tek for preparing it (involves simmering)... except im going to load it into spawn bags from mycopath. i just want to make sure i do everything correctly, so i need to know a few things: how long should i PC for if im simmering it first, is the water level in the PC supposed to touch my bags at all, and will rubberbands stay in tact if water touches them? also, agar mentions something about double-folding the tops of the bags. is there any detailed or specific way of doing this properly? pics would help a lot if possible. thanks

The sticky side of tape is basically sterile from how it's made, same as plastic bags or foil.

2 hour sterilization time. Inoculate thru bag and cover the hole with scotch tape. Duct tape is not a self sealing injection port. I don't see how it would be better than nothing at all.

ok thanks, and as far as the bags being open and folded at the top... is this just to have an imperfect seal so pressure can escape? do i want any steam to actually penetrate the bag or should i do my best to make sure theyre closed relatively tight

How do you keep your bags out of the water? For a 2 hour cook I put 1 and 3/4 quart water in there. I'm not seeing how I could keep them out of the water.
