Science News vs. Religious News
    #14247851 - 04/06/11 02:48 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Every single day there are new and exciting scientific discoveries in physics, medicine, materials, computers, etc.

In religious news we also have cool stuff like Catholic Church protects pedophiles, Muslims decapitate UN workers, abortionist doctor murdered, adulteress stoned to death and so on.

I fail to see the convergence of the two or the oft-metioned two different views of the same reality POV.

That's some heavy reading. :yesnod:

Republican Values:

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

"every single day there are new and exciting scientific discoveries in physics, medicine, materials, computers, etc."

that's probably because the corporations that fund the scientific studies pay large amounts of money to make sure that their products/discoveries make it into the news and are portrayed favorably.

Conservative conglomerates make sure religious stories make it into the news, too- the difference is that usually they're very negative and fear based.

"Watch out, the evil atheists are trying to corrupt our children by taking Christ out of Christmas!" :shakingfist:

Screw science and religion. They don't exist in the future. Nothing does...

What are you talking about?  I am an atheist.

My only point is that science like everything else in this country is driven by money and agendas so it has it's limitations.  Also, what do you mean by conservative conglomerates?  I seriously doubt that any religious groups have the amount of money and power to wield and push their agenda as some of the major corporations that are driven by science and technology.  eg pharmaceutical companies, Microsoft, etc.....
