Jar size and Grow environment

Hello everyone, I have couple of questions I would like to ask about mushroom cultivation. I hope you can help me a little.
I am thinking about cultivating cubensis mushrooms at home with rye seed. Do I need to cultivate half a pint jars one at a time, or can I use bigger size jars to make bigger patches to grow?
I would also like to know, the differences between using rye seed, vermiculite & brown rice flour, and cow manure. Which one of these three cultivation bases will give me a better environment to grow my mushroom in. How can I get the high grow rated and potent mushrooms?
Thank you and good chats with shrooms =)

Welcome to the shroomery. As you need to learn the basics of mushroom cultivation, go here. Watch these videos again and again. Good luck.

I vote for starting with the PF Tek first, as its suuuuuuppppeeeeerrrr easy.. that way, you can learn the life cycle, and what they need and like.. thats where most start, anyway..

Seen no differnce in rye vs brown rice/verm combo..in quickenss in first phase...
the rye may appear to colonize faster because say u inoculated the rye with either spores or myclelium then shook the jar vigrously so it spreads thought..
but can't shake the rice/verm combo... so spores or mycelim don't spread throught it has to crawl its way and colonize its way thru.. so its a bit slower....that rye. about 2 days... eaitehr way its 14-16 days seen it in 9 days with both.. just depends on how perfect your moistrure content is really...
and of course u know the larger the container you use to coloize it the longer it takes to colonize.. and the lonter and older mycelium is the more likely it is like to get contaminated.. just like anythink else that is wet and can serve as a vector of contamination.

Thank you all for your answers. I now know that I will use half pint jars for cultivation and rye seed to cultivate it with. The videos are wonderful I have already watched the first four and will continue to watch the others.
Another question what is the brand of the jars used in the videos for making cakes. I couldn't find them on the internet.

Most local hardware stores seem to keep a good supply of canning jars ( my personal favorite brand is Kerr). If they don't have wide mouth, I'm sure they'll order them for you. Good luck!
