Can I pasteurize two bricks of coir at once in PC?
    #14247021 - 04/06/11 11:44 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I need to make 20 quarts of bulk sub and am planning on using 2 bricks of coir with 3 quarts each of gypsum and verm. I have had trouble maintaining temps using buckets in the past, so I would like to pasteurize directly in the PC on the stove this time at a constant 170 for 90 mins. Do you think this will all fit in my PC, so I don't have to prep both bricks of coir seperately? My pressure cooker is an all american 921.

its possible will most likely make a mess, and that's a nice piece of equipment to be pasteurizing coir in.

Why don't you just do it in the bucket and use ur PC to heat up your "back-up" water for when the temp in the bucket drops?

Coir does not need to be fully & properly pasteurized. Just look @ Damion5050's Elementary Coir tek.

I've done 3 buckets @ a time 1 brick+2 quarts verm + 4 tablespoons of gypsum per.
