Fruits while case running

I have two straw casings, one B+ the other Talpalpa, both have a few more days 'till the, 50/50 w/ little lime, casing is as colonized as I would like. The problem is that I got small fruits forming on the sides of both ruffneck tubs. Was planning on cold shocking...proly not necessary huh? WHAT TO DO??? Should I just start fruiting?

yeah, just fruit it now since it already has pins. Obviously coldshock is not necessary.

Mushrooms will not form anywhere but where the mycilia has broken throught the surface of the casing, right? So by bumping it into the fruiting stage early am I going to get less of a yield?
How can I avoid this pre-mature pinning in the future??

You used a translucent casing container, right?

No, an opaque ruffneck rubbermaid. Dark green. I do open the lid every day or so to check out the progress, but only for a few seconds.

I would just start fruiting. I never incubate my casings and almost always have excellent results.

How much of the casing surface should be colonized? In a perfect world.

I think you should see it poking through the casing fairly evenly throughout, but the casing layer shouldn't be "colonized" per say. I would say about 15-25%, but I'm no expert.

pinsets seem to form better where mycellium is in all the valleys of your casing layer. So not necessarily fully colonized but a little bit breaking through all over.
Pinsets also form second flush pins, during and even before the 1st flush, so even if your 1st flush results are good, without any incubation - it doesn't necessarily even out, because the later flushes are inhibited by poor knot/pin formation in the previous flushes.
Now that's not to say you can't have good results without, but with you're more likely to have more consistantly better results.

What about the 3-7 small ones now growing on the edge? I know TMC says pick em if you don't think it constitutes a flush, but I dono.

I would just let them grow till they are ready to harvest.

if you want a slightly larger flush pick the pins now, cold shock if you cant see any knots in the valleys of the casing, then induce fruiting as usual...
