I would throw them out.
If you want you can keep them and see if it is contaminated but i don't the chances of it being clean.

Sounds like you transferred cobweb mold to cakes (which probably contaminated when opened). Agar works best when transferred to grains.

I didn't think you could clone dried shrooms to agar; that they are only useful when fresh, and best used within 2 days of picking?

You can tell their contaminated before the myc starts to grow. Growing from dried tissue is possible but from what I've gathered, unless you know what you're doing, it's highly improbable.

Growing from a dried cap is probably extremely possible, given that it'll be loaded with dried spores that just need hydration, but if you're gonna half ass it and not use sterile techniques, you will only fail.
Also if you did have success on agar, you'd do a glovebox transfer of healthy mycelium to a prepared liquid culture solution or to grains. Throwing a chunk of mycelium in a BRF jar probably won't work very well.
