    #14244435 - 04/05/11 08:59 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

i have tall half pint jars, i bought them because of the space they save. anyways i heard a lot that they stall, or have slow colonization times. i am using a thick liquid culture solution, would this counter act these problems? thanks everyone
P.S i did search it, nothing came up

It very well could, but I've had better luck with the non tall kind.

what differences have you noticed? if the LC grows faster (Which it does)it should speed it up, i mean if i used the short ones, and used lc, it'd be a bonus, but I need to save the space.

a good lc...a nice fluffy brf...perfect water content..tall jars do fine...and some of my best batches were course verm...they were 100% in like 14 days..or less in tall 1/2 pints...some lids had 3 holes

As long as your LC is clean?

Tall 1/2 pints will be a problem sometimes no matter how much LC or its quality you use.  I found the tall ones work more when you use less water when you prepare them......Instead of 2:1:1 I use 2:1: .8 water....It has worked better with my tall 1/2 pint experiments because the less water resulted in less packing at the bottom.....Either way they arent ideal though

I have seriously never had problems with tall jars
Some of them have slowed down towards the end, but not enough for me to never use them again or even be upset.
meh.
Goodluck with your grow

I use the tall jars because that's what they had at the store.  The colonization time is slower, but I haven't had them stall.  You'll be fine with them, as long as you're not super impatient.

what do you mean clean? as in contam free?

i have started 12 jars, two of which i used lc for. its been 9 days and the lc is about 40 % done, while the normal spore solutions average 20 - 40 % done. it will surely be done in a week or two, for the lc :/

Yeah, I was asking if your LC culture is clean.
