According to a source SWIM read somewhere test tubes could be used to house mycelium cultures in cold storage is this true and if so, SWIM has noticed a +/- 10% variance in the fridges temperatures is this within acceptable parameters ? Also a store ending in MART sells small fridges for around 100 bucks do you think these would have less of a temperature variance ? also what is the maximum storage time for a syringe filled with a mycelium broth and should this also be placed in cool storage ?
-------------------- Final last words... What's this button do ?
Inncubate for one week at 75? F... Once the mycelia has covered a major portion of the agar's surface and appears to be free of contamination, stor at 35-40? F... At these temperatures, them metabolic activity of most mycelia is lowered to a level where growth and nutrient absorbtion virtually stops. Ideally one should check the vitality of stored culturesevery six months by removing fragments of mycelium and innoculating more perti dishes. Once mycellium has colonized two-thrids of the media dish, select for strandy growth (Rhizomorphism) and reinoculate more slants...
-------------------- "A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."
