Spore syringe shelf life

I tried looking in the FAQ and looking it up in the search, but I still can't seem to find an answer. Does anyone know how long the shelf life is of a spore syringe. I have a syringe from 2001, it was from the first PF Tek i ever did. It's still sealed and in the box like it was when I got it. It's been in my insulated garage this whole time. Just wondering if there is a chance these spores may still be viable? thanks!

Iv heard 3-6 months more often then not.
ALTHOUGH I have seen cases of a few people getting 1-2 year old spores syringes to germinate.
Only one way to find out if they are still good.

I gave a pal of mine a B+ syringe that was AT LEAST 6 years old, and kept in horrid, unsanitary, un-optimal conditions. I gave it to him because he only does agar work from spores so i knew he wouldnt do something stupid like try to make a LC from it or nething.
hilarious thing is, he said the spores germed quicker than a print he swabbed and put on slants the SAME day.
So yes, spore syringes can last AT LEAST 6 years. I have seen it happen. Is it the norm? i don't know.

I do not think it is the norm, but it does happen from time to time.

It was kept in a drawer in the kitchen with a bunch of cooking utensils. Totally horrid conditions, yet the spored survived.
I agree, i dont think it was normal, perhaps it was even a freak occurance that they survived.
BUT THEY LIVED! live on my shroomie friends.

So ten years may be pushing it, lol! The reason I asked is, i am waiting for an order of spores I thought would arrive today. Turns out it's going to be tomorrow instead. So in anticipation, i made ten pf tek jars today. I just finished PCing them, is it ok for them to sit a day before being inoculated?

The sooner the better, but it will be fine. It often takes 5-7 days for the spores to germinate anyway.

I would say 3 mos is a responsible guestimate. Used as old as 9 with success, though a few that were 15 mos old failed. Mileage may very.

What about prints? I think that they would last longer because they are dried out?

All holes were properly taped and lids were capped with foil. Would it be better to leave them in the cooker til tomorrow when the spores arrive or should I take them out of the PC when it has cooled enough?

I'm new to game but I would keep, still, untouched inside the cooker. Done myself and figured stored inside there would be a dam sight more sterile than out in the open around the house.
