Try this: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/5874305#5874305
Its really simple and it made perfect LC for me. I knocked up a couple of bags already and they are colonising well, I will tell u the results of the fruits.

Let me clarify. People think agar is like a magical super thing. But after working with it I have realized that it is something anyone can do and people should get into it sooner than they do. Plus you can work from prints more easily and decent prints are easier to get than good syringes.

What he said lmao.. Don't be scared to start using agar it really isn't that hard to do, all you need is some agar powder and some petri's and if you cant get petri's you can actually use 1/2 pint or pint jars instead..
Agar makes it really easy to take clean samples and make sure they are clean samples, the thing with cloning to an LC is that you never know if your sample is truly clean and contam free until you shoot up some jars..
But if you use agar you will know within a day or 2 if you have a clean sample, and if it is contam you can transfer away from the contam to get healthy mycelium and then either do agar to grain or agar to LC..
IMHO agar is the best way to go even if you are a noob, it isn't hard at all, once you do it you will be punching yourself in the face and asking the question why didn't I get into agar ages ago.

Here are a few articles I wrote up that may help you out:
Agar Setup(Costs and Materials) https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12675513
Pouring Malt Extract Agar https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12748848
These two articles chronical my start with pouring agar inside of a glove box. I have built a flow hood since, but doing agar work is 100% doable inside a glove box.

+1 for agar. it's really very simple. i simmer and pour it into wide mouth 1/2 pints with a filter paper over a few holes for GE and pressure cook for 15 minutes. once it cools it should be fine and any moisture should be reabsorbed within a day or two.

I think it is whatever works best for you. Try whatever you think is easier, if you have problems learn from your mistakes and try the other method. Both methods are successful, and have their pro and cons.
I tried LC and had 1 viable 30 oz LC in my first try. I agree you don't know what you have until you test it, simple enough to do though. I like LC, but will be moving to agar to start working with isolates.

i like transferring agar wedges to LC(agar broth) in a still air box. LC colonizes much faster than an agar transfer to grain.

Agar, specifically PDA is the shizzznit. i love how you can print in the field and take it indoors and cult. from there. Cant do that with a Lc.
