Forced to throw out cakes.

Well my cakes just went out the door.
I was dumb and told my mother what they were. I have really liberal open-minded parents so I didn't think it was a big deal. She didnt have a problem with it originally either. Well yesterday on some STUPID court show they brought two dudes who were starting a shroom business together and one was suing the other because he wanted more profit or something. Mind you they're South American so they don't know it's illegal and by going to court over it they're getting their asses in jail.
But anyways one of the dudes apparently took some shrooms at a crazy loud and roudy party and mixed it with alcohol. As he started having a bad trip and anxiety the others just egged him on and so he reached for a knife near him and tried to kill himself. So my mom automatically thought that everyone that takes shrooms will try to kill themselves. I tried to explain the importance of being relaxed, in a good environment, without knives around obviously and that would cause a good trip. But no she couldnt see past that one case.
Then they brought in a doctor talking about the benefits of recent shroom studies and how it helps ease headaches and pain in cancer patients. I had already told her that there was a study that it got rid of OCD which I have and is part of why I wanted to take them. The doctor said part of what caused the idiot's bad trip was that he mixed it with alchohol and god knows what.
But then he got shut up by an office that came in spreading nothing but fear saying it causes LIVER FAILURE within 24 hours and that people have died from taking it. Obviously that would be pickers who misidentify the WRONG shroom. So then the two guys got arrested. And long story short my mom started yelling at the top of her lungs to throw it all out and that she's saving my life. Mind you I have researched shrooms thoroughly, she has not, and she ignorantly chooses not to look at any research and just go by a dumb court show.
I know, I know, it's my fault for having been open and told her. But I do slightly wonder now if it happened for a reason. Could it have instead of cured my OCD caused me problems like liver problems or severe anxiety? Based on what I've researched it shouldn't but I'm now lost...

You did the right thing being open and honest with your mom. In the end family is all we have. Keep learning and never stop, then when you're in position, everything will fall into place for you. I know it sucks to have to work so hard on something to see it lost in a moment (believe me I know - my home burned down last year...) but everything happens for a reason and all is moving according to plan.
Again, way to be a good person and level with mom. Sorry she didn't understand, but you understand the culturally sanctioned dogma surrounding drugs in general and more specifically psychedelics. People are very nervous about the unknown...

Physical problems are non-existent, unless your cakes are harboring an unknown containment (rare if you follow sanitary techniques), so no, your liver would be fine.
Psychologically, it varies from person to person. Taking it with the assumption that it will cure your OCD is a huge assumption and may turn out not to work. However, negative effects are kind of rare as long as you have a good set/setting and dose. Shows like that are plain drug war propaganda; just more bullshit to watch out for.

Shrooms do make you teh gay. But they do not cause liver problems or liver failure. Anxiety could be caused by a bad trip but I highly doubt it. All in all shrooms are pretty harmless. They can bring out psychosis earlier in people, but only in people that were going to get it later on in life anyways.
Also you should NOT grow at your parents house, out of respect to your parents no matter how open minded they are. They can and will be charged along with you. Its ok to take that risk yourself, its not OK to drag your parents down with you.

I've got same problem.. but i don't stressed about that very much, because i got some spore print and i can go on with it next time. when you'll get your place - you'll be able to do whatever you want in there.
doing something like this(growing active plants/mushies) and living with parents is very complicated combination.. as dwpineal said People are very nervous about the unknown... especially parents.
good luck next time!

I'm 21 you idiot. And I'm moving out in a few months since I just finished getting my degree. You on the other hand sound like some typical under 18 year old trying to sound like a bad-ass.

Yea thanks I'm gonna wait till I have my own place. And I would probably more likely have a good trip then because right now I'm trying to escape some crap going on in my life which may just get amplified if I trip. And I agree with the other poster that I should not get my parents involved.
I really can't believe this little mushroom is a felony. I mean there are so many more legally prescribed things that can cause far worse effects. It's easier to OD and actually die on some more legal things like yohimbe. I think it's just a way for pharmaceutical companies to make profit off their SSRIs. Which funny enough is what every doctor I see tries to pander to me when they hear I have OCD which is why I wanted to try shrooms out. I nearly lost my mind once from psychiatric meds my "trusted" doc was giving me yet you don't see them being charged with anything.
