Second Grow: Mazatapec on Coir/verm/gypsum 1

So I just started up on my second grow. I used maz spores i got from another member.
This time i'm using two mono tubs, one bigger one and my old one.(the clear one) First Grow
this one is still colonizing, after seeing the monotub colonization thread i decided to try leaving it unbagged and with the polyfill in the holes. looks super dry....is it ok to mist this tub?

This one has been in fruiting conditions since the 31st and so far i have seen no pins. I have been misting and fanning and took out some of the polyfill to allow for plenty of FAE but so far not much is going on as far as pins go. i have seen some knotting.

I have also noticed some yellowing on the substrate. Could this be because it's to dry? or is it just metabolites?
any suggestions on how i can get this mother to pin besides the fanning and misting and taking out the poly?
Thanks guys, hopefully i'll update with some pin porn here pretty soon

Bump in hopes someone will respond.
What is the best way to mist? I should not be misting directly right?
And my other tub that's colonizing and looks dry, whats the best way for me to get some water in there?

you can mist directly, just dont let water pool or sit on the top too long...
alot of ppl's climate is too dry to remove the polyfil, you want to keep your humidity high, where leaving the polyfil loose so you can still get good FAE

I am leaving it pretty loose to allow plenty of FAE. I had some empty holes but after recommendations from IRC I put it back in. I also was recommended to stop misting and leave it alone. So I'm just going to try and let it be and mist if it looks dry...

I just checked out my clear tub which has been in fruiting for two days and it has pins. why would this one, which looked super dry... pin before the tub that's been fruiting for a week?

The yellowing is just metabolites.

5 days to a week at this point I'd say. And the cool thing is, at this point, from what you see, there will be more than that. Those are just the early birds of the first flush.

this is my first grow in the same tub...looks like this will be
much more rewarding...
but that led to this...which wasn't half bad...

so what do you think...
should i keep misting lightly?
and fanning?
or just leave it alone and let it do its thang?

Misting and fanning will promote more primordia formation, at this point I would still mist and fan, yes. But when you start having small fruitbodies I would stop fanning and just keep the humidity up. That way you don't get a blended flush of both primordia and full grown mushrooms. The new primordia would likely abort anyways to save evergy for the big brothers. There will probably be debate on this, and I hope to be corrected if I'm wrong. But IME keeping the humidity up and postponing fanning keeps unwanted primordia at bay.

what causes mutants...one looks like the cap or dark part of the pin is at the bottom and the stem is growing up from that!

I've read that one of the potential causes is scraping spores from a print with a sharp tool rather than an inoculating loop or another rounded edge. In effect, cutting the genetics in the spores. I think it was mentioned in GG&MM, but I obviously have no real proof of this as I'm too lazy to find the quote.
Mutants are somewhat fun though!
